Exeter care home: supports local charity

Cumberland Grange care home in Exeter recently raised over £300 following on from a successful coffee morning held at the home raising money for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, also known as the RNLI.

Volunteers from the RNLI were also present at the coffee morning with their pop-up shop, selling an array of different goodies from cards to diaries and ornaments, with all funds going straight to the charity. Speak George Hislop also attended and held an informative talk on the history of the RNLI which residents and community members found incredibly insightful.

Cranbrook Education Campus Hosts Walk and Wheel Active Breakfast

This month Cranbrook Education Campus, (CEC) joined forces with the charity Sustrans to host a Walk and Wheel Active Breakfast, an event designed to inspire families to choose walking, cycling, or scooting as part of their daily commute to school.

The event was a resounding success, with families flocking to the school gates on foot, bike, or scooter, eager to enjoy a delicious breakfast buffet as a reward for their commitment to active travel. The breakfast was also supported by Morrisons who provided a £20 donation.

Exeter-based homebuilder tops major industry survey on customer satisfaction

Exeter-based homebuilder, Tilia Homes, has achieved the top score in a major industry survey for customer satisfaction for the first time in its four-year history.

The rating comes from the Home Builders Federation’s (HBF) annual New Homes Customer Satisfaction Survey, widely regarded as the industry’s benchmark for quality. Tilia Homes was awarded five stars, a rating given to companies when more than 90 per cent of customers would recommend them to a friend.

Aldi stores in Devon benefit from £600 million investment

Since 2017, Aldi has invested almost £600 million to upgrade its stores across the UK, including six in Devon.

Its store enhancement programme has seen the UK’s fourth largest supermarket focus on expanding its fresh, chilled and food-to-go offerings, while also creating simpler layouts and energy efficient LED lighting.

The stores that have undergone the changes include Exeter and Plymouth.

Aldi is now preparing for the next stage of development, which will see nearly £67 million invested in existing stores throughout 2025.

More Aldi stores in Devon to get Inpost lockers

Aldi is installing InPost lockers outside more of its UK stores in Devon.

Thanks to the supermarket’s ongoing partnership with parcel locker provider InPost, more customers can now easily collect and return online orders at the Exhibition Way, Exeter store.

Britain’s fourth-largest supermarket first trialled the lockers at 22 stores across the country in December 2023.

Following positive feedback from customers on how convenient the service is, over 260 InPost lockers have been installed across Aldi UK stores.

From 28 October to 1 November 2024, Exeter will host the Social Mobility Business Partnership (SMBP) Programme dedicated to creating career opportunities for students from low-income backgrounds. The programme is designed to break down barriers to social mobility by providing students with valuable work insights, resilience and workplace skills training and lifelong career support.

An 11-year-old Bengal cat who was seriously injured in a vicious fight over territory is back marauding again after specialist reconstructive surgery at a leading Somerset animal hospital.

The cat, called Genghis, was at risk of having his right leg amputated after a bite to his shoulder turned septic and the virulent infection began eating through the joint.
