Dartmoor ponies give helping hand at RSPB headquarters

The flora and fauna of a renowned nature reserve is about to be given a huge helping hand by the arrival of six Dartmoor ponies.

The RSPB has teamed up with the Dartmoor Pony Heritage Trust who have arranged for the ponies to be relocated today (April 5) to its headquarters in Bedfordshire where they will help to restore the nature reserve through their natural grazing habits.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service is asking the public to think twice about using disposable BBQs this holiday.

Wayne Rawlins, area manager for risk at Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue says:

“Every year we see so many preventable fires caused by disposable BBQs. Communities across Devon have the chance to rehome every-day items they no longer need simply by leaving them outside their front door every Tuesday, starting 6th April.

The new initiative is called ‘Tuesday Tables’ and is part of Recycle Devon’s commitment to help residents reduce the amount of waste we throw away.

Tuesday Tables encourages people to pass on items they no longer need so that they can be used by someone that may benefit.
