The Government-backed Help to Buy scheme has helped over 270,000 new home buyers since it was introduced in 2013. However, from 1st April this year, the scheme is changing. Emma Cotterill, regional sales and marketing director for Kier Living Western, explains what local buyers need to know.

A converted Georgian manor house on the outskirts of Exeter has been officially opened following its £2m refurbishment.

Dating back to the late 18th century, Winslade Manor stands at the heart of the 86-acre development of offices, homes and leisure facilities at Winslade Park, Clyst St Mary. Once complete, it will have an expected market value of £80m.

Not too late for over-70s to get a vaccination in Devon

There is still time for people in Devon aged over 70, and those who are clinically extremely vulnerable, to book a coronavirus vaccination in coming days.

The NHS in Devon is on target to have vaccinated all the eligible people in priority groups 1-4 who wanted to take up a vaccine, by Sunday (February 14), in line with the Government’s ambition.

A new hardship fund is being set up for local people struggling with their finances as a result of the pandemic.

Devon County Council is allocating £600,000 in its budget for 2021/22 to support people who need short-term emergency assistance.

This is on top of the £1 million that was made available in the current financial year.

More cash will be spent on pothole repairs across Devon if councillors back a new budget on Thursday.

An extra £600,000 will be added to the county council's roads budget under the new plan.

The first homes and businesses in Barnstaple can now benefit from reliable ultrafast broadband straight to their door, from internet service provider Jurassic Fibre.

The Exeter-based company’s full-fibre network went live in parts of the town this month, providing internet speeds of up to 950Mbps. The network will cover over 10,000 premises across Barnstaple, with the build expected to be completed by late summer.
