Devon pet photographer launches exhibition in aid of dog rescues

Each year, professional pet photographers around the world unite to raise funds for animal rescue by contributing to the Tails of the World Book Project. To date, the annual Tails of the World Books have featured over 1,150 dogs and raised over £75,000.

Local pet photographer Fiona Crawford, who owns the horse and dog lifestyle photography business in Devon, wanted to raise money for the local dog rescue, K9 focus in North Devon.

Fun A Day challenge triumphs with weekend-long exhibition at Positive Lights Projects in Exeter with 45 contributors

Forty-five people from all over Greater Exeter have exhibited their creative skills in the Fun A Day project, a community show at the Positive Lights Projects in the city centre.

The Fun A Day concept is simple: pick a project, do it every day throughout February and record it. Adults and children drew, painted, sewed, baked, photographed and wrote to complete the challenge, lifting spirits, celebrating life and bringing a little colour to the dog days of winter.

Free workshops and check-ins on offer to boost Devon’s wellbeing

Independent charity Devon Communities Together (DCT) has launched a new wellbeing programme, Wellbeing Works, to support people and businesses in Devon to prioritise their wellbeing and resilience as we continue to recover from the pandemic.

People can access free 1-2-1 wellbeing check-ins with trained volunteers or join one of a series of online workshops designed to share tools and techniques for better wellbeing. There are a whole range of two-hour workshops on offer, from the ‘Five Ways to Wellbeing’, to ‘Wellbeing at Work’ and even ‘Doodling for Wellbeing’, plus many more....

Topsham local, Paula, is celebrating after being selected as the winner of McCarthy Stone recent photography competition.

Run by the leading manager and developer of retirement communities behind the forthcoming Pym Court Retirement Living Plus development in Topsham, the competition called for local residents to share photographs of their favourite scenery, wildlife, and landscapes from all corners of the town.

Get involved in photography project to record impact of deadly tree disease

People across Exeter can now take part in a study to assess the effect of ash dieback disease on the landscape of the city.

Three fixed camera points have been installed at three locations across the city where ash dieback will have an impact.

Members of the public are now being encouraged to take photographs from the fixed posts to capture Exeter’s changing landscape over the coming months and years. The pictures, will capture changes to the treescape and will help inform decisions about future plantings across the city.

Photography competition to capture wildlife on the doorstep proves popular

Organisers of a photography competition to capture wildlife in the garden have been delighted by a flood of entries.

In just a few days since the competition was launched, Exeter City Council has received 33 entries. People have until the end of the month to send in their images.

Cllr Duncan Wood, Lead Councillor for Leisure and Physical Activity, said he was over overjoyed by the response.
