A small group of independent cafe owners around Devon have come together to look for the best scone in Devon. The idea came about after some conversations on Twitter about home made cakes and baking, and how small cafes and tea shops may promote themselves to visitors and locals alike.

There are four regional heats each being co-ordinated by a local cafe owner. The Exeter heat will be held on Saturday 25 May 2013, in the Exeter Guildhall Shopping Centre, starting at 10.30am, co-ordinated by Sue and John Taylor from Cafe at 36 in St Thomas, Exeter.

There's still time to enter, entrants pay £5 towards the Devon Community Foundation, BBC Radio Devon's Charity of the Year.

After the four heats have been held and a regional winner found, BBC Radio Devon will be hosting a grand final at their studios in Plymouth and the winner will be awarded a Golden Scone trophy.
