Quickes Apple Day Food Fair
Quickes Traditional is celebrating National Apple Day by hosting a seasonal food fair - Sunday 19th October. The Quickes Farm Shop - in Newton St Cyres, Devon - will welcome visitors to enjoy a selection of Quickes award-winning cheese, artisan foods and of course, a variety of local apples!
The food fair will also be a celebration of local food - cheese tasting with Quickes and other artisan food producers showcasing their quality products. These include Black Dog Eggs and Exmoor Heat and Eat along with a host of others. Enjoy cooking demonstrations by The Devon Chef, Tim Harris who will be preparing delicious dishes available to purchase for your lunch. There will be a hog roast and Quickes Farm Kitchen serving locally sourced food throughout the day and to help wash it all down - spiced mulled cider and local ales. Children will be celebrating Apple Day too with fun activities and games taking place throughout the day, including a quiz, apple pressing and apple identification
National Apple Day is an annual event which has been held in October for over twenty years - promoting the variety of apples grown in orchards across the UK. Celebratory events can vary from apple games in the garden to a weekend event full of cookery demonstrations, apple pressing and tastings. Apple Day was initiated by the charity, Common Ground, to commemorate the diversity of locally grown food.
