Exeter-based heating solutions company ZERO stands to win a grant of up to £150,000 as one of the shortlisted companies competing to win the Shell Springboard Award for 2016.

Launched in 2005, Shell Springboard provides funding to UK entrepreneurs at the cutting-edge of the low-carbon economy. This year, funding awards of up to £150,000 are available for small enterprises with innovative, commercially-viable business ideas that reduce carbon emissions.

ZERO has been shortlisted for a heating innovation project that the company has been developing over the past few years.  The company will now present this innovation to a regional judging panel in February, and if successful, will then continue to the national final in March.

ZERO’s Managing Director, Finian Parrick, explains: “As a solution-driven company with a focus on energy-efficiency and an overall aim of contributing to a zero carbon future, we thrive on challenging the status quo to provide alternative heating technologies that deliver reduced fuel bills and lower carbon emissions.

“ZERO is delighted to have been successful in the first round of judging for the Shell Springboard Award, particularly as we understand we were up against a lot of strong competition.  Being shortlisted gives us confidence that judges can already recognize the positive impact that our innovation could have on the heating industry.  It also gives us the chance of being awarded a grant of up to £150,000 to further develop and finesse the capabilities of the product.  We look forward to exploring the product’s potential further in the next round of judging.”
