Dogged determination helps Matthew smash crowdfunding target
A former lawyer who hopes to turn his passion for pets into a business has hit his crowdfunding target with 12 days to go.
Matthew Dunne aims to help locally-owned vets practices compete on a level playing field with the powerful corporate owned operations.
And after raising £40,000 on Crowdcube, he is now in a period of ‘over-funding’ with 12 days left to go.
We caught up with Matthew to find out more about his ongoing crowdfunding campaign...
How does it feel to reach your crowdfunding target?
Great! We’ve demonstrated that innovative startup businesses in the South West can attract significant investment. We’re now overfunding our target and have carried on receiving investments since we reached 100% funded. I’d like to thank all those who have demonstrated faith in the business.
Is there still an opportunity to invest?
Absolutely - there’s still time to become an investor in Local Vets, so check out our pitch on Crowdcube! Once the pitch has closed to investment we’ll receive the amount raised and share certificates will be issued to investors.
Remind us about Local Vets...
Local Vets is a growing community of locally owned vets practices committed to keeping pets healthy. We aim to become the UK’s best known and most trusted pet care brand by championing the role independent vets play in the pet care market. We have national ambitions but are proud to be based in Exeter and a part of the fantastic South West business community.
What are your plans for the investment?
We’ve got exciting plans to grow our community of vets practices and to do even more to help vets and pets owners care for pets. Our aim is to help locally owned vets keep what makes them special - but become part of something bigger.
Do you have any advice for entrepreneurs considering crowdfunding?
Preparation is everything. Launching a successful crowdfunding campaign takes a huge amount of planning and the work doesn’t stop when the pitch goes live. Knowing who you need to engage and having a strategy to promote your campaign is really important.
