Volunteer recruitment drive for city charity
A new volunteer recruitment drive has been launched by city charity, Citizens Advice Exeter.
The organisation is looking for volunteers who can spare between eight and ten hours a week and offers a comprehensive training programme.
It is holding an informal open session on Wednesday, March 9 at its office in Dix’s Field, Exeter. Potential volunteers will be able to find out more about the charity’s work, chat with some current volunteers, find out about the training programme and meet the supervisors.
Steve Barriball, chief executive, said: ‘We are looking for volunteers who enjoy working with people and can spare between eight to ten hours a week..
‘This is an excellent time to join the charity. Last year, the Citizens Advice service was named Charity of the Year in the Charity Times Awards. This is recognition of the role that our volunteers play each and every day in helping our clients to change their lives for the better. That is an incredible and invaluable thing, and it was this team effort that this award recognised.’
Pam Pritchard, volunteer at the charity, said: ‘Volunteering with Citizens Advice Exeter has given me the opportunity to gain new knowledge, skills and experience in a wide variety of areas and the confidence to be able to use these abilities to help our local community. I would certainly recommend it to anyone who is interested in joining the charity.’
Citizens Advice Exeter was rated as very good for its standard of advice, following a quality audit by national Citizens Advice.
Steve added: ‘This is a real vote of confidence in the charity and I’m delighted with the result. It shows that clients can be sure that they will get very good advice from us. I’d like to thank all the staff, paid and unpaid, for the hard work that made this result possible.’
