Grey Matter, an industry-leading software reseller based in Ashburton, co-hosted the first South West ModernBiz conference with Microsoft, at Reed Hall on the grounds of Exeter University on Thursday, 14 April.  Over 25 key decision makers from local businesses attended the half day event.

With the modern office now a mix of people working from home, in the office, and on the road, businesses are facing new issues such as employees having access to the company data from different locations on multiple devices, and making sure the business data remains secure. Companies are increasingly looking to cloud technology to provide their computing needs. Cloud technology, or cloud computing, delivers files and applications to a company’s computers and devices through the internet, rather than only using traditional computer hardware services such as servers and storage.

Specialists from Microsoft talked business with the local firms, and led sessions outlining what cloud technology is and how it can help to modernise the IT strategy of a growing business. They were also on hand to demonstrate how cloud technology offers different ways a business can access their data and keep it secure across mobile phones, tablets, and laptops.
