Partnership status for Exeter partner at Trowers & Hamlins
International law firm Trowers & Hamlins has appointed Rory Stracey as a partner to lead the firm's South West planning, highways and compulsory purchase practice, taking effect from 1st July 2018.
Since relocating to Exeter from the firm's London office in 2016, Rory has been involved in a number of high profile projects, including working with Inox Developments on the urban extensions at Langarth Farm in Truro to provide 1500 new homes and associated infrastructure (including the land required for the new Stadium for Cornwall) and the site for 800 new homes at Ilfracombe, and advising the organisers of the Boardmasters Surf and Music Festival at Watergate Bay in Newquay on the planning consents associated with the festival.
As well as working on regional projects, Rory continues to act for developers, institutional investors, land owners, central and local government and individuals from across the UK.
On his move to Exeter and promotion to partner, Rory commented: "It is a privilege to become a partner of a firm with both international reach, and strong local connections to the South West business community. Planning law is increasingly complicated, and my aim is to help clients navigate the planning system with minimum fuss – to make things simple. Having grown up in Cornwall it is great to be back in the South West helping clients to unlock the region's development potential".
The firm also made promotions across the London, Birmingham and Manchester offices including individuals from Dispute Resolution and Litigation, Projects and Construction and Commercial Property.
