Golf Section raises £17,150 for local ChariTEE
Local charity Rainbow Living are thrilled to have been presented with a cheque for £17,150 from the Golf Section at Exeter Golf and Country Club following a fantastic year of fundraising as the Golf Captain’s Charity of the Year.
Golf Captains Pete Bennett and Ali Crooks significantly exceeded their initial target of raising £10,000 for Rainbow Living, as their fundraising efforts were so well supported across the 12 months.
The partnership has been so positive that the incoming Golf Captains, Rick Pillow and Caroline Harris, have announced they will continue to raise money for Rainbow Living for another year, the first time a Charity has benefitted from a further year.
Pete and Ali said: “We have had a fantastic year, enjoying both friendship and golf and we would like to thank everyone for their support. It has been so rewarding to work in partnership with a local charity and to be able to make a positive difference to our local community. We are thrilled at the amount raised and we wish every success to Rainbow Living in the future.”
Incoming Men’s Golf Captain Rick added: “Caroline and I want to support a local charity where the benefits can be seen and we have been so impressed with the support from Rainbow Living throughout the year and the difference fundraising makes to this Charity. The members of Exeter Golf and Country Club generously supporting our events can feel proud of the tangible benefits they are making to the local people in the Rainbow Living homes.”
Every single penny of the funds raised will go towards refurbishing the charity’s fourth Rainbow House, including to fund the purchase of white goods appliances.
Rainbow Living’s Treasurer, Ruth Airdrie, MBE, said: “We are overwhelmed by the support we’ve received over the last 12 months and staggered at the amount raised. Thank you so much to everyone who has supported the many fundraising events, either through giving their time, organising an event, making a donation or giving a prize – we really are so grateful.
“Our huge thanks to the incoming Captain’s for choosing to support Rainbow Living for the 2019/2020 year. As a smaller local volunteer-run charity, this sort of partnership really does mean so much to us and will make such a lasting difference long into the future.”
