Thomas Westcott strengthens agricultural services team
One of the South West's leading independent firm of chartered accountants has further strengthened its Agricultural Services team with the appointment of two experienced consultants.
Peter Brown and Jack White have joined Thomas Westcott's agricultural consultancy to further expand the range of services available to farming and rural businesses in the region.
Peter Brown, based in Thomas Westcott's Holsworthy office, has a reputation for delivering expert advice to the South West's agricultural industry earned over 21 years, including helping clients running family farms, agricultural colleges, eco businesses and rural estates.
Jack White, based in the firm's Axminster office, gained his honours degree in Agriculture, Land and Farm Management from Harper Adams University in 2008 and has been working in the agricultural industry ever since.
Jack, whose experience includes direct farm management, nutrition and fertiliser recommendations (Fully FACTS qualified) and business consultancy across all farm enterprises, said: "My family has owned a dairy farm in Somerset for years, so you could say I was born into this lifestyle.
"My main focus is to help agricultural businesses plan for price volatility, which is a constant threat to clients' cash flows. With my own background growing up on a working farm I can relate to what they're experiencing and apply my expertise to help them plan for the future."
He added: "Although a large and growing firm, Thomas Westcott has an independent and entrepreneurial streak which I found attractive when making my decision to join."
Peter, who has also held roles including economist at Exeter University, senior bank manager in the North of England and treasurer for the National Federation of Young Farmers, said: "Where I like to help agricultural businesses is with their financial structures, looking for ever more efficient ways of operating and ultimately helping clients put plans in place to create growth.
"One of the main draws for me to join Thomas Westcott is its clear focus to help the region's many agricultural businesses to receive the very best advice and flourish in what can be an extremely volatile industry," he added.
Thomas Westcott Chartered Accountants created its Agricultural Consultancy, overseen by partner Nick Smy, to complement our expert Agricultural team and accountancy team to meet growing demand from the South West's farming and rural communities for specialist advice to meet the very specific pressures they face.
"With Peter and Jack's appointment, which is in addition to consultant Sally Nichols who joined us last year, we now have one of the most experienced and highly-qualified agricultural teams in the South West," said Nick.
"From budgeting and cash flow forecasts to compliance and access to grant funding opportunities, our Agricultural Consultancy service has everything to help farming and rural businesses stay competitive and profitable," he added.
