Saracens 38 Chiefs 7

On so-called ‘Star Wars Day’, Exeter Chiefs felt the full force of the Gallagher Premiership’s Dark Lords as Saracens powered their way to all five points in this top of the table battle at Allianz Park.

Mark McCall’s side not only cut Exeter’s lead at the summit to just four points with one round of the regular season remaining, but they revved up for next week’s Champions Cup Final with a confidence-boosting display that yielded five tries.

Alex Lewington’s converted try was all that separated the two rivals at the break, after which the home side ran riot with a second...

The Grecians unable to seal play-off place

Exeter City were unable to seal a place in this season’s Sky Bet League Two play-offs despite a 0-0 draw with Forest Green Rovers.

Despite Newport County only being able to collect a point at Morecambe, the Grecians just needed that all-important goal but it didn’t arrive despite a number of chances throughout the match. Manager Matt Taylor made one change to the side that started the win over Oldham Athletic last time out with Nicky Law missing out through injury and he was therefore replaced by Hiram Boateng in the City midfield.

Ryan Bowman had City’s first attempt on...

Elections staff thanked for dealing with challenges on the day

Exeter City Council’s Chief Executive and Growth Director has thanked all staff who played a part in Thursday's local elections in the city.

Karime Hassan praised all those involved – some 500 people - in organising the elections, in the lead-up, during the day itself and at the count on the night.

“It is a massive undertaking and I can’t thank everyone enough for their efforts. This is local democracy at work and without the dedication of scores of City Council staff and many others, it just wouldn’t happen,” he said.

In Exeter, just over a third of the electorate...
