Former students and employees of St Loye’s College shared memories at an exhibition of photos and artefacts at Devon Heritage Centre in Exeter.

St Loye’s College was founded as a charity by Dame Georgiana Buller who wanted people with disabilities to have the opportunity to work and fulfil their potential.

The college was located on Topsham Road and supported thousands of people from 1937 until 2008. The charity continues today as Step One, which organised the event to celebrate its 80th year and offer people with a connection to the old college the opportunity to view its...

Dr Palfrey was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in October of this year, and will be starting chemotherapy within the next few weeks.

She said: “I have had very...

Exeter Chiefs 31 Harlequins 17

Reigning champions Exeter Chiefs reclaimed pole position in this season's Aviva Premiership by seeing off visiting Harlequins at Sandy Park.

Far from their best showing of the season, Rob Baxter's side did more than enough to collect all five points and send the Londoners back to the capital with scant reward for their workmanlike efforts in the Westcountry.

Wingers Lachie Turner and Olly Woodburn collected a try apiece for the Devonians, while lock Jonny Hill ensured the bonus point by dotting down twice in the second period as the Chiefs collected their sixth success of...

The Grecians went into the match in Derbyshire fielding the same side that won convincingly over Grimsby Town last weekend at St James Park.

With an estimated 6.5 million people in the UK providing unpaid care to family members and friends, Devon authorities are urging carers to take a moment, for themselves.

There are about 90,000 people providing unpaid care for loved ones and friends in Devon; more if you include Plymouth and Torbay.

Many carers don’t see themselves as ‘carers’; they feel that they’re just doing what families and friends do for each other when they need help, and they’re not going to make an issue of it.

But Devon County Council and Devon’s CCGs say, ‘Do make an issue of it. It’s...

Chilcotts Auctioneers is selling a 1930s postcard album that relates pictorially the story of ill-fated airship production in the UK, including the tragic result of a maiden flight.

The album was discovered in East Devon, when the vendor was clearing out his late father’s home.

It opens with images of the R100, an airship built in the 1920s in Cardington, Bedfordshire. Different to its German Zeppelin counterparts, the R100 was oval in shape, streamlined and aerodynamic.

The postcards show images of the trial flight in July 1930, when the airship crossed the...
