Aviva, title sponsor of Aviva Premiership Rugby, has today launched the Aviva Community Fund, a nationwide initiative that offers support and funding for inspirational local causes. Expanding local independent retailer signs lease on second shop

Exeter-based independent retailer Queenstreet Carpets and Furnishings, based in Alphington, announces it has signed the lease on a second store in Topsham which is to open on the 1st May.

The expanding family-owned business was founded by the late Malcolm Dixie and his wife Nikki in 1968 and was originally based in Queen Street, Exeter. East Devon District Council WILL be moving out of its ageing offices at Sidmouth for purpose-built and modernised accommodation at Honiton and Exmouth respectively. Rugby's greatest prize, the Webb Ellis Cup, will visit Exeter on 10 and 11 July during the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour.

Man illegally stored 84,659 waste tyres at Devon sites

The owner of a tyre waste business has been given a 15 month custodial sentence, suspended for two years, and a two year supervision order after illegally storing almost 84,659 waste tyres at several sites in Devon. The case was brought by the Environment Agency. Staff at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital have raised £700 for Comic Relief by holding a Great Inter-Divisional Bake Off on Red Nose Day. Competition was fierce as staff from each division in the Trust – Specialist Services, Medicine and Surgery - put their culinary skills to the test and came up with all manner of baked confections for their divisional cake sales.
