The head of the BBC's governing body says the broadcaster needs a radical overhaul following the resignation of its chief executive in wake of a scandal over a botched report on child sex-abuse allegations.

Chris Patten vowed to restore confidence and trust in the BBC, which is reeling from the resignation of George Entwistle and the scandals prompting his ouster.

LONDON (AP) — How will Justin Welby lead the world's Anglicans and heal their deep divisions? Even he is not sure yet.

NEW YORK (AP) — A return to 1970s-era gas rationing seemed to help with hourslong gas station lines that formed after Superstorm Sandy, but it didn't end a fuel-gauge fixation that suddenly has become a way of life for drivers in the nation's largest city.

With police monitoring lines, motorists in New York City and Long Island on Friday began dealing with a new piece of fallout from the monster storm: odd-even gas rationing.

FSCS to pay out for poor advice on Arch Cru and Keydata

The Financial Service Compensation Scheme (FSCS) has opened the floodgates for consumers to claim against 16 financial advisers (including Financial & Taxation Consultants based in Exeter) some of which were involved in Keydata and Arch Cru scandals.

The FSCS has declared 16 financial advice firms across the country in default, meaning that their customers can now put in a claim for up to £50,000 for any money they may have lost as a result of their dealings with the firms.

Carcass collector conviction upheld by Exeter Crown Court

A judge has dismissed an appeal by a South Devon-based licensed slaughter man and fallen stock collector who was convicted of offences under Animal By-Products regulations last month following an investigation by Devon County Council.
