Police are investigating an attempted murder in Crediton at the weekend after a man suffered life-threatening injuries.

A 35-year-old man, from Crediton, was allegedly attacked in an alleyway at The Burrowe between 12.30am and 1.15am on Saturday 10 October.

He suffered serious neck and facial injuries and was taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

Three men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and were taken into custody at Heavitree Road police station, Exeter.

Child injured in quad bike collision

Police are appealing for witnesses after a child was injured when a quad bike overturned in Holsworthy at the weekend.

The mini quad bike was being ridden by a four-year-old girl from the local area, with family members walking alongside, when the incident happened at around 5.30pm on Sunday 27 September.

They were on the public footway, which leads from Bodmin Street over the River Deer, heading in the Bude direction, when the quad bike collided with the verge and wall of the viaduct bridge and overturned onto the four-year-old child.

Serious assault in Chudleigh

Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious assault in Chudleigh on Monday 7 September.

Officers were called to an address in Fore Street at around 8.35pm after a man had been assaulted inside the property.

A 20-year-old local man suffered stab wounds and was taken to Derriford Hospital, Plymouth. He has since been released.

Officers believe this was an isolated incident and are appealing for information.

They are keen to speak to anyone who saw two men running away from the area at around 8.20pm.

65-year-old Stephen Cogger who was missing has now been found safe and well near Honiton.

Police are appealing for the public’s help to trace a 65-year-old man missing from Honiton.

Stephen Cogger was last seen at his home in Millhead Road around 10pm on Wednesday [26 August].

Police are concerned for his welfare and say the disappearance is out-of-character.

Officers, supported by the police helicopter and Exmoor Rescue Group, have been conducting searches for Mr Cogger.

Cyclist found with head injuries on Dartmoor

Police are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was found with serious head injuries on Dartmoor on Wednesday 26 August.

The 68-year-old cyclist was found at 4.50pm lying unconscious on the B3212 between Postbridge and Moretonhampstead.

He had sustained a serious head injury, considered life-changing, and was airlifted to Derriford Hospital by air ambulance. He remains in hospital in a serious condition.

The man, from Essex, appears to have been cycling alone between Postbridge and Moretonhampstead.

Police are appealing for the public’s help to locate Steven Brannick who has been reported missing from his home in Exeter.

The 48-year-old was last seen leaving his home in the Countess Wear area at 3pm on Monday (17 August) and police are concerned for his welfare as the disappearance is totally out-of-character.

Exeter officers are appealing to the public for help after builders’ tools were stolen from a white van which was parked in East John Walk in the Newtown area of Exeter.

The thieves broke into a white Ford Transit van overnight and stole specialist building tools between 6pm on Thursday 6 August and 7am on Friday 7 August.

Power tools worth over £2,000 were stolen, including a red Hilti circular saw, a yellow spectra precision laserplane, two orange Stihl disc cutters and a grey Cat 4 generator.

Police are concerned for the welfare of 48-year-old Jane Brocklehurst from Budleigh Salterton.

Jane was last seen on Saturday evening at her family’s flat in West Hill on 8 August.

Jane is described as being a medium build and has mousey brown shoulder length hair.

She is believed to be wearing brown cropped trousers, dark red or brown patterned top with scooped neck and green/grey pumps, she may also be wearing a grey coloured three-quarter length mac.

Jane may be travelling on foot, and could be between Budleigh Salterton and the Littleham area.

Detectives have released EvoFITs of two men they would like to identify in connection with a road rage incident in Axminster.

On Monday 6 April at around 6.30pm two men were assaulted at Weycroft, Axminster, during an alleged road rage incident.

The victims sustained serious head injuries as a result of being struck with a bottle and hammer. They were taken to Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton for treatment.
