Over 60 employers inspire the next generation at Apprenticeship Expo 2018

More than 60 employers inspired the next generation at the recent Apprenticeship Expo 2018 hosted at Exeter College, on behalf of the South West Apprenticeship Ambassador Network.

Now in its fourth year, the Apprenticeship Expo was the biggest event to take place in the South West during National Apprenticeship Week (5th - 11th March 2018).

The Expo showcased employers of Apprentices and gave young people the chance to speak to businesses, discover opportunities and the benefits of employment with training. The event was free to exhibit at and free to attend.

Exceptional apprentices and employers celebrated at glittering awards ceremony

Exeter College has held its annual awards celebrating the achievements of exceptional apprentices and their employers.

More than 160 apprentices, employers, civic and business leaders, friends and family attended the glittered awards ceremony, sponsored by law firm Foot Anstey.

The evening at Sandy Park saw the celebration of achievements of 11 apprentice winners, five employer winners and the presentation of two special recognition awards.

Apprenticeships at the University of Exeter have been boosted by two prizes at the Exeter College Apprentice and Employer Awards.

Maddy Geen was named Business Administration Apprentice of the Year, while Head of Apprenticeships Jonathan Cresswell won the Apprenticeship Innovation Award.

The university was also a finalist for Levy Employer of the Year at the event last Thursday (22 February).

Maddy was recognised for her achievements as a Business Administration Apprentice at the university.

Devon apprentices and graduate to keep local people safe and warm

Seven young people from Devon have started their training programmes with Wales & West Utilities as the company continues to work hard to keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses while preparing to meet future challenges.

The new recruits, Jordan Rundle, Luke Hathaway, Robert Hook, Niall Bradley, Louis Allan, earned places on the company’s highly regarded apprenticeship whilst Henry James has started the company’s graduate programme. Exeter College celebrates record breaking year with 1,000th Apprentice

Exeter College is celebrating a record breaking year by celebrating welcoming their 1,000th apprentice.

The 1,000th Apprentice is Jordanna Broom who is a higher engineering apprentice at the University of Exeter. Jordanna enjoyed her initial engineering training and has decided to pursue her career through one of the college’s higher level apprenticeships.

To celebrate this milestone and the ongoing relationship between the college and the university, a memento has been made by the University’s engineering apprentices and presented to the college.

UK first as apprentices build new scout hut in Devon

To celebrate the 10th National Apprentices Week (March 6 – 10), home builder Barratt has announced a unique community project at its development in Cullompton.

The new scout hut at Saxon Fields will be built entirely by apprentices covering a range of skills including bricklayers, site management and carpentry. It will be the new home for Cullompton Scout Group and leaders James Buczkowski and Sarah Wyatt said it will transform the organisation which has 60 members in three age groups.
