Local care home to hold fundraiser in support of FORCE

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Cumberland Grange care home in Exeter will be supporting FORCE Cancer Charity on the 6th of February in support of World Cancer Day by fundraising to support this worthy cause. Staff and residents from Cumberland Grange are inviting members of the community and beyond to join them on the 6th at 11am to help support this wonderful charity.

There will be a delicious cake sale, fun games and an amazing raffle with prizes from Greendale Farm Shop, Illumine Candle Co., Waitrose, Tesco, Luscombe Drinks and more.

Exeter care home celebrates 2 years

Cumberland Grange care home in Exeter threw a wonderful Harvest themed party with live music, prosecco and an autumnal buffet feast to celebrate their 2nd year of care and serving the local community.

Staff, residents and guests commemorated this special occasion together and had a fabulous night dancing, singing, eating and drinking!

Local care home Cumberland Grange in Pinhoe will be opening it’s doors to a number of people from the community to help tackle loneliness in their local community.

Open for elderly people who might usually eat alone, are invited to join the residents and teams at the home on for a 3 course meal, on a day of their choice.

Exeter care home rated excellent for culture of care

An Exeter care home has been rated ‘excellent’ following an audit by a national care organisation with a focus on relationship-centred cultures of care.

The Old Rectory was visited by auditors from Meaningful Care Matters (MCM) who assessed the staff’s interactions with residents, as well as the home’s environment and the level of care given.

Founded in 2019, MCM aims to change the culture of care by ensuring people have purpose, are empowered to be themselves and have meaningful relationships within their care setting.

Swinging sixties songs through to modern music entertained residents and staff at an Exeter care home's annual festival.

The Old Rectory celebrated TORstock with musical acts and entertainment, colourful sixties and seventies fancy dress, and a barbecue.

Tom Matthews, the Southern Healthcare care home's activities coordinator, explained: "The festival went on all day, and we had music and a barbecue. There was lots of entertainment from father and daughter duo, Steph and Daz, singer and musician George Williams, and magician Graham Prigg."

Local care team taking to the skies to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society

Exeter local Katie Derrick and her team at Right at Home Exeter & Exmouth will be embarking on a hair-raising skydive to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society.

Katie, 34 who is Manager of the Devon homecare provider will be joined by Managing Director Tony Macrae (61) and CareGiver Belinda Blackwell (60), along with Katie’s mum Anne Charles (60) for the skydive, which is taking place on 24th September in Honiton.

Local care home resident is a winner in nationwide creative writing competition

A resident from a local care home has been named as one of the winners in a recent nationwide creative writing competition organised by Barchester Care Homes.

Residents were asked to put on their creative hats and write a short story or a poem about a favourite pet as part of a reminiscence session. Tour de Barchester -  local care home workers take on charity cycling challenge

Cumberland Grange Care Home in Pinhoe was delighted to have been chosen as this starting point for this year’s Tour de Barchester. For the second year running, staff from Barchester Healthcare’s care homes and hospitals took on a gruelling cycling challenge this time from Exeter to Eastbourne and then on to Purley. Their aim was to raise money for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation which supports older people and other adults living with a disability or mental health problems by helping them to connect or re-connect with others in their local communities.

Cumberland Grange Care Home in Exeter was delighted to welcome some very special feathered visitors for the day recently, when some magnificent birds of prey came to visit.

Residents were given the opportunity to get up close to the impressive birds, along with learning more about the history and characteristics of the different breeds, as part of a very special animal therapy session.
