Legal firm's donation boosts city charity project

AN ‘at risk’ charity project, which supports people with dementia, has moved a step closer to being saved, thanks to a donation from Exeter solicitors Cartridges Law. Developed in partnership by Age UK Exeter and Studio 36, the Budding Friends initiative provides a weekly allotment project through the spring and summer and art workshops for people living with dementia.

Leading local advice charity, Citizens Advice Exeter, is delighted to announce that Anna Coltman and Gordon Richardson have joined their Board.

Anna currently works for Exeter-based South West Academic Health Science Network. Prior to this she worked at Nottingham City Council and for the Association of Directors of Economy, Environment, Planning and Transport.

Gordon lives in Exeter and works as a freelance copywriter and PR consultant. He was previously a journalist for 15 years, most recently as business editor at the Express & Echo.

Members of Exeter‘s legal community gathered in Southernhay yesterday, for a charity cheque presentation, after raising over £2,500 for the creation of a permanent cultural tribute to the buildings that perished in last year’s Cathedral Yard fire.

On Tuesday 2nd May Devonshire Freemasons' Provincial Grand Master the Rt. W. Bro Ian Kingsbury, accompanied by his wife Toni, visited the offices of Devon Air Ambulance in Exeter.

They can be seen here presenting Fundraising Manager Tracy Owen with a certificate representing the donation for £4,000 given by Devonshire Freemasons through the Masonic Charitable Foundation.

This makes a total of £51,000 presented by Devonshire Freemasons through the Freemasons Grand Charity since 2007 and over £110,000 when adding presentations made by individual lodges throughout Devonshire...

The spring flowers in Moretonhampstead gardens Sutton Mead and Mardon must have loved the driest winter for decades.

The colours of the apple blossom, wisteria, rhododendrons and azaleas have never looked better. Both of these four acre gardens will be open in aid of The National Garden Scheme on Friday, Saturday and Sunday 19, 20, 21 May. 2-6pm.

There will be a sale of plants raised in the gardens and delicious homemade teas. Parking is available at both gardens and for anyone wishing to combine their visit with a walk on the moor, dogs on leads are welcome.
