Two signed Rugby World Cup 2015 balls will be up for grabs at an online charity auction on Thursday (21 January). Also available to the highest bidders will be three RWC2015 rugby posts, which for the last two and a half years have been situated in locations around Exeter.
All proceeds from the auction will be divided between the Lord Mayor’s charity - which this year is the Exeter Foundation, supporting 19 local organisations and charities across the area - and the ‘BEEP’ Programme, a highly successful RWC2015 Legacy project which helps young disadvantaged people into work and...
West Country accountants and financial planners Old Mill are sponsoring Children’s Hospice South West’s 2016 £50 challenge in a bid to raise £25,000 for the North Devon based charity.
The £50 Challenge is an annual event where local businesses compete against each other to turn a £50 start-up investment into as much money as they can over a three month time frame, with all money raised going directly to Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW). Old Mill will be hosting its own special celebratory version of the challenge from April to June.

There’s no excuse for not knowing where the Exeter Mid & East Devon branch of Samaritans is based - it now has its own official ‘fingerpost’ signs in central Exeter.
One of the charity’s less well-known services to clients is face-to-face sessions at its premises on Richmond Road, near the famous Clock Tower in Exeter city centre.
“These sessions are for people who need someone to listen. People can call at the door from 10.30am until 9.30pm seven days a week, with no appointment needed” explains Helen Crossfield, director of the branch.
This year we have supported an amazing 2,254 patients as well as their families and friends.
What really counts though is how we look after our patients, their families and friends, not a number. Every patient, family member and friend is an individual, so I’ll let Tony, an Exeter patient’s husband, tell you of his Hospiscare experience.
“I take great comfort in knowing that my last days together with my beloved wife Dawn were so special and precious because of Hospiscare. I am passionate that this amazing charity can be there for others, because without the hospice and the...

Hospiscare patron Lady Clarissa Clifford visited with presents, while Marina Cornall from St David’s donated a lovely large Christmas floral display which her mother-in-law Joan...
Around fifty people from a range of East Devon businesses joined solicitors Beviss & Beckingsale and their chosen charity See The Future for a cracker of a festive lunch at Honiton’s Deer Park Hotel.
The guest list for the event included local surveyors, estate agents, accountants, lawyers and other businesses from hairdressers to auctioneers.
Guests were welcomed with a festive glass of mulled wine before a sit-down lunch, which included a talk by See The Future founder Leanne Greengrass. A game of “heads or tails” raised money for the charity, which raises awareness...
