Debt still a major problem in Exeter

Many Exeter residents are still facing a daily struggle with debt despite the UK’s gradual economic recovery and a fall in the number of people seeking advice, a leading debt charity has warned.

Figures released today by StepChange Debt Charity show that 618 people in the Exeter area called its helpline for advice in the first half of 2015 with average debts of £11,202. After they had paid all their essential bills, they had an average of just £15 left each month[i].

Flybe unveils colourful jet in support of charity partner

Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, today (8th December 2015) unveiled a special birthday surprise to Meg Clark from Kent who won the carrier’s recent UK-wide art competition held in support of its charity partner, Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens - her winning entry had been superimposed on to the airline’s first purple branded Embraer 195 jet!

Mecca Exeter spreads Christmas cheer

Christmas has arrived early at Mecca Exeter which has seen its colleagues and customers collecting presents to provide some festive cheer for Force Cancer Charity, a local charity which works to support cancer sufferers in the area, including the funding of treatment and research.

County Show steward set for charity cycle

A Devon County Show steward is preparing to embark on a 200-mile charity cycle ride from the showground in Exeter to London on Monday (December 7), to raise money to develop a new rural hub.

Hospiscare is delighted to announce that the Revd Dame Sarah Mullally, Suffragan Bishop of Crediton has become a Vice President of the local charity.

MEN and women across the South West are being challenged to ban the booze in January to raise money for Cancer Research UK. The charity is launching Dryathlon for the New Year and urging people the region to sign up now before the festive season gets into full swing.
