Wi-Fi SPARK's 10 mile hike for charity

WiFi service delivery company, WiFi SPARK based in Exeter, has chosen Children’s Hospice South West as its charity of the year, and its latest fundraiser has seen members of the team hike the ten tors of Dartmoor.

Princesshay's security get set for Great West Run

Members of the Princesshay security team are limbering up for the annual Great West Run in Exeter on 18th October, to raise money for Princesshay’s charity of the year, Age UK Exeter.

David Purse, Princesshay Security Manager, will be leading the team of five through the testing half marathon race. Their aim is to raise £2000 in sponsorship for Age UK Exeter. This donation will help fund services and activities across the city in support of older people in the local community.

Meet cats in need of homes at charity event

Cat fans in Exeter will have a chance to meet some fantastic felines in need of new homes at a special cat rehoming event being held by Blue Cross pet charity on Saturday 17th October at the Isca Centre in Whipton, from noon until 3pm. Visitors to the Blue Cross event will be able to find out more about the charity’s pet rehoming centres and pet fostering schemes in Devon. Anyone who is on the lookout for a new pet will also be able to find out about the cats currently being cared for by the charity. Hotel donates TVs to Foundation charities

A popular Exeter hotel has donated television sets to a charity fundraising body, after undergoing a major refurbishment.

The Mercure Exeter Southgate underwent a £2.5m re-furbishment earlier this year. The hotel donated 20 television sets, which were previously in rooms, to the Exeter Foundation.

As a fundraising body, the Exeter Foundation offered the televisions to its member charities on a first come first served basis. The televisions were snapped up within 2 hours by a number of different charities.

Lloyds Bank colleagues from Exeter will join forces with 1,300 colleagues across the country to raise over £300,000 for BBC Children in Need, their chosen Charity of the Year Partnership.

Spacex Artist Trevor Pitt Sets Up Preston Street Union

Spacex artist and independent curator Trevor Pitt is setting up Preston Street Union – PSU; an affiliation of artists from in and around Exeter that will come together over a five week period to explore collaboration as a strategy for artists. The event will take place from 13 October – 7 November 2015.

Educational charity Spacex works with artists and curators to enable access to contemporary visual art in the South West through a programme of projects and events that invite public participation and critical debate.

RISE Recovery celebrate first peer supporter graduation

The inspirational achievements of nine peer supporters at RISE Recovery Integrated Services were recognised at the first ever RISE Peer Supporter graduation on Tuesday 22nd September.

The graduation ceremony was held at RISE Exeter with peer supporters coming from RISE services across the county including Newton Abbot, Barnstaple, Tiverton and Exeter.

Firm donates IT equipment to Exeter Foyer

Exeter-based accountancy firm Simpkins Edwards has donated a variety of IT equipment, including 44 PC screens, to Exeter Foyer to be used by its young residents as part of their work, training and educational programmes.

The equipment, which has previously been used by Simpkins Edwards but is in good condition, was donated to the Foyer as part of Simpkins Edwards’ commitment to environmental and community initiatives.
