Go-Kart Party a success for Age UK Exeter and Princesshay

Children having fun on electric go-carts rides in Princesshay this summer has raised over £600 for Age UK Exeter. Operators Go-Kart Party donated 10% of all takings throughout the summer to Age UK Exeter as part of the continued annual charity partnership between Age UK Exeter and Princesshay.

Go-Kart Party manage the pay per ride electric Go-Karts in Princesshay Square, running on a track specifically designed for 4 to10 year olds eager to have a go at being a racing driver.

Christmas e-cards support WESC Foundation

WESC Foundation is seeking the support of greeting card consumers in the South West in the run up to Christmas as part of a new fundraising initiative.

The centre for visual impairment has partnered with Exeter-based DontSendMeACard.com to offer a range of e-cards that support WESC. The website offers users the ability to send e-cards in replacement of greeting cards and to donate how much they would have spent on sending cards.

Exeter lawyers get knitting for Age UK

A 15-strong team of knitters from law firm Stephens Scown LLP have been brandishing their needles in aid of the Exeter office’s chosen charity, Age UK Exeter. Stephens Scown’s knitting club has knitted as many little woolly hats as possible for the Exeter branch of Age UK, in support of the charity’s nationwide campaign “the Big Knit”. The club, comprised of 15 knitters of mixed experience, have knitted 375 hats in total. Devon Wildlife Trust is the 2015 recipient of the Devon Environmental Business Initiative (DEBI) Environmental Education Award.

Glen Bevan’s story of hope and transformation is inspirational. A few years ago he was overweight and a borderline alcoholic, he suffered a collapsed lung and doctors told him to change his lifestyle or die.

Now, as an ultra-endurance athlete, he’s taking on a huge physical and mental challenge in aid of a local charity.

Princesshay’s Roman Walk will be sparkling with festive cheer as the centre hosts its third Charity Christmas Tree Festival.

The festival, which aims to raise both awareness and funds for local charities, will be opened with a celebratory light switch-on by the Lord Mayor of Exeter at 5pm on Friday 20 November. Representatives from participating charities will be attending the event, which follows the centre’s main Christmas lights switch-on on Thursday evening.

The successful work of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity’s (RNRMC) dedicated fundraising team has resulted in a nomination for Best Fundraiser at the National Payroll Giving Excellence Awards 2015, which will be held on November 17th at the House of Lords in London.

The RNRMC has seen Payroll Giving donations increase an average of 8 per cent a year since 2010, helping it achieve its aim which is to support Serving Personnel, veterans and their families, for life.
