New research by travel money experts, FairFX , has revealed Brits planning to travel across the UK during the relaxed five-day Christmas break could end up paying more than double compared to just a week earlier.

Analysing the cost of one-way tickets for popular flight, train, ferry and coach routes during the period of relaxed Covid-19 restrictions, FairFX found an average price increase of 105% compared to just one week earlier, with some routes as much as 215% more expensive.

Budding astronomers will be given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness a truly special celestial event in the run-in to Christmas.

This month, the gas giants Saturn and Jupiter - the two largest planets in our Solar System - will be so close in the sky that they’ll both be visible through a telescope eyepiece at the same time.

The planets will reach their once-every-20-years conjunction on December 21 – which will be their closest alignment since 1623, almost 400 years ago.

A SOUTH Devon care provider is recruiting new carers as it enters its busiest period of the year with a target to take on 100 new employees in the run-up to Christmas and into the New Year (2021).

Exeter’s Corn Exchange is preparing to lift its curtains for the first time since March as it welcomes audiences to its latest Christmas panto, The Wizard of Oz.

Now in its 11th year, the Christmas pantomime at the Corn Exchange will be the only panto running this holiday season in Exeter, and one of the only in the whole south west region.

Charity tree festival and donation hub launches in Princesshay

A donation hub has been set up for the first time in Princesshay as part of its Christmas 2020 charitable initiatives. The Giving Hub will occupy a unit on Roman Walk and will be collecting specific donations to support people who are homeless or vulnerably housed this Christmas.
