Shoppers in Exeter are to get an early Christmas present with the announcement of special offers in City-Council run Pay & Display car parks in the run up to Christmas.
Starting tomorrow (Thursday 21 November) parking will be free in all City Council-run Pay & Display car parks after 5pm. And those paying for three hours in Pay & Displays on Sundays will be able to get the rest of the day's parking thrown in for free.

Members of the local business community were welcomed with wine and canapés at the newly refurbished Lloyd’s Kitchen based in the heart of the City. The event celebrated the re-brand and showcased the new dinner menu as the restaurant now opens for Friday and Saturday evenings. Exeter City Football Club are delighted to once again be running the annual Charity Santa Dash, which takes place on Saturday 30th November. Entrants will begin their mile-long Dash (or walk, or amble) from the Guildhall promptly at 1.15pm, and make their way through the City to St James Park stadium in good time for the 3pm kick-off against Bury. At 6.24pm last night, Exeter City Centre Police were called to the Princesshay shopping area of Exeter by staff at the New Look store, who were concerned about a suspicious package that had been left in their shop. The shop was closed at the time of the call, as were the majority of premises in the area.
As a precautionary measure, a cordon was placed around the store and the direct vicinity and a specially trained police officer searched the scene.
The officer removed a bag containing non-suspicious items from the store and the cordons were removed.
Exeter Cathedral has produced a resident’s card for the first time, offering people living in the city free entry to their Cathedral.
The card covers people living in postcodes EX1 to EX4. Forms will be sent in the post to eligible homes.
The Cathedral has to charge visitors to attempt to cover some of its £4,000 a day running costs, said the Cathedral’s managing director, Alison Davenport, but it is doing all its can to ensure that people in the city and around it can visit for free, as often as they like.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the new headquarters of training charity St Loye’s Foundation was performed on Friday 14 June by the new Leader of Devon County Council, Councillor Bernard Hughes OBE.
