Flashmob to Flashdance in aid of Devon Community Foundation!

Devon Community Foundation is asking anyone who loves to dance, or who simply loves Devon, to get involved in a county-wide flashmob on Sunday 30 June to help raise funds for the charity.

Marking the 30th Anniversary of the Hollywood classic movie, Flashdance and celebrating BBC Radio Devon’s 30th Birthday, the flashmob will be raising money for BBC Radio Devon’s ‘Give a Gift Appeal’ in aid of Devon Community Foundation.

Scone Off 2013 - Looking for the best scone in Devon!

A small group of independent cafe owners around Devon have come together to look for the best scone in Devon. The idea came about after some conversations on Twitter about home made cakes and baking, and how small cafes and tea shops may promote themselves to visitors and locals alike.

There are four regional heats each being co-ordinated by a local cafe owner. The Exeter heat will be held on Saturday 25 May 2013, in the Exeter Guildhall Shopping Centre, starting at 10.30am, co-ordinated by Sue and John Taylor from Cafe at 36 in St Thomas, Exeter.

Devon Community Foundation welcoming cycle in Devon this weekend

Devon Community Foundation are looking forward to welcoming Calderdale Community Foundation this weekend when they are passing through the county as part of their 906 mile Land’s End to John O’Groats bike ride raising money for young apprenticeships.

The Cycle4Work campaign, which has so far raised more than £95,000, is being lead by Calderdale Community Foundation’s CEO Steve Duncan along with a team of seven cyclists coming from a variety of sporting and ‘not-so-sporting’ backgrounds. BBC Radio Devon to give cash to the Community

Devon Community Foundation is thrilled to announce that it is working with BBC Radio Devon to celebrate the station’s 30th Birthday by giving cash to the community! BBC Radio Devon Give a Gift, which launched on 21st January, aims to raise funds to make a difference in the county by giving cash gifts to local groups and organisations that need it most.

Kitsons raises £1,000 for Community Foundation

Leading Devon law firm Kitsons raised a fantastic £1,000 for Devon Community Foundation, thanks to their recent Christmas Quiz. The evening, which took place at the Grand Hotel in Torquay, saw 115 professionals from businesses across Torbay, Teignbridge and Exeter come together to take part in a gruelling eight-round quiz followed by a raffle. Local celebs back the Surviving Winter campaign

Famous faces from across the Westcountry including Ann Widdecombe and Angela Rippon are backing this year’s Surviving Winter Appeal which is being coordinated locally by Devon Community Foundation. With temperatures dropping and fuel prices rising, Devon Community Foundation have launched this year’s Surviving Winter Appeal to raise money to help the vulnerable and older people at risk in Devon this winter. The campaign is supported by local celebrities including Ann Widdecombe and Angela Rippon.

With the prospect of another cold winter, the vulnerable and older people are at risk. The Surviving Winter Appeal offers anyone who receives their Winter Fuel Payment but does not need it to donate it to help those most in need in our communities.
