Whether you are a seasoned sneezer or an itchy eyed weeper, the weather may affect your hayfever symptoms.

The pollen count is usually higher on sunny days – particularly if it follows days of cloud – as the pollen builds up in the flowers and is only released during full sunshine. Rain on the other hand, can bring relief for some people as it washes the pollen from the air. But there is no need to wish for rain at the Exmouth Carnival Spring Fun Day this Saturday to avoid your symptoms, as preparing early makes all the difference. People with Down's syndrome have their say

The Down's Syndrome Association (DSA) is launching an exciting project called 'Having a Voice' in the South West.

This proactive scheme enables people with Down's syndrome to contribute to both local and national policy, to directly influence the national charity and to share their life experiences. Not only does this give people with Down's syndrome a united voice, it is the perfect place to develop new friendships and build stronger links within the community.

The first meeting is on May 17th in Newton Abbot and there are already people signed up from across the region...

Mark struts his stuff for Hospiscare

An Exeter man has caused an internet sensation by strutting down the city’s High Street wearing hotpants and heels – all in aid of Hospiscare!

More than 137,000 people have watched videos of bearded Mark Williamson, wearing a tie, shirt and jacket, with bright blue shiny hot-pants and heels, strutting his stuff to bemused shoppers.

Mark,47, was dared to carry out the crazy stunt, copying the Money Supermarket’s ad, Dave’s Epic Strut, and after practising in his lounge and the garden he stunned and amused Saturday shoppers who of course got their phones out and filmed him....

Baxter hails Salvi arrival

For the second time this season, Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter has raided Aviva Premiership rivals Leicester Tigers for one of their prized assets.

Having already recruited England and British Lions lock Geoff Parling for next season, Baxter has moved swiftly to add the name of club-mate Julian Salvi to the Sandy Park roster for the next two years.

Widely regarded as one of the most destructive forwards in European rugby, Salvi’s arrival in the Westcountry is yet another telling addition to what is looking a formidable Chiefs squad for the 2015/16 season.

Killerton gears up for classic car takeover

On Sunday 17 May, from 10am to 5pm, over 350 vintage vehicles will park up in style to celebrate ‘classic car day’ in the historic parkland at Killerton, near Exeter.

‘Classic car enthusiasts travel far and wide to show off their prized vehicles at the renowned annual event in the hope of winning the coveted Killerton House Cup for the ‘best car in show’.

Visitors can also explore over 50 stalls selling jewellery, furniture, silk scarves and textiles, listen to live jazz or wander around the National Trust house, gardens and parkland.

Police target drivers in Honiton

Neighbourhood officers stopped more than 60 vehicles during a successful traffic operation in the Honiton area on Thursday 14 May.

Officers from Honiton Neighbourhood Policing Team, the Special Constabulary and a team from the Vehicle Inspectorate (VOSA) carried out stop checks in Dunkeswell and Sidmouth Road, Honiton.

Overall a total of 64 vehicles were stopped and the drivers were spoken to at both locations.

Of these, four traffic offence reports were issued by police for excess speed, no seat belts and no insurance offences. VOSA issued six prohibition notices...
