Exeter charity Hospiscare is celebrating after receiving an early Christmas present - the £3,540 left outside one if its city shops last month.

Today (Thurs) local police officially handed over the cash found outside the Hospiscare Cowick Street shop as the identity of the donor remains a mystery. No one came forward to claim the cash, the police are satisfied it was a genuine donation and Hospiscare has now banked the used £20 notes left in two carrier bags outside the shop window on November 10th.

Glynis Atherton, Hospiscare chief executive said: “I would like to say a...

Glynis Atherton, Hospiscare chief executive, said: “The shop manager was amazed and immediately contacted the police who are looking after the wads of £20 used notes. This sum would provide almost a whole...

Exeter traders' CCTV delight

Independent traders on Magdalen Road in Exeter can now sleep easy at night as their campaign for CCTV security cameras has been answered by local security firm, Marsh Barton Security Services (MBSS). A group of traders launched the campaign for new CCTV cameras on the bustling road near Exeter city centre, following a spate of criminal activity earlier this year.

Many of the shop owners have been faced with smashed windows and doors, damage to the inside of their properties and repeated burglaries of items such as iPads, handbags and charity boxes. Their cry for help was heard loud...

Donation money reportedly stolen

Members of the public took to Facebook last night to warn others about a female they believe has commited fraud.

They stated, via the social networking site, that a fundraising page was made by the female in remembrance of Nicole Hartup.

12 year old Nicole Hartup sadly passed away in May after falling from a wall at a Wonford Youth Club.

However, instead of using the funds for good causes, Facebook users claim the female has kept the money.

Users vented their anger online, with one writing:

"I think it is absolutely DISGUSTING that xxx xxx has stole(...
