NHS Blood and Transplant is appealing to blood donors to make appointments to donate blood.

The next session taking place in Exeter is on Sunday 31 May at Exeter Corn Exchange, between 9.55am andf 2.25pm. Currently this session is 59% full.

Hall & Woodhouse makes Rio soft drink donation to Exeter COVID-19 test centre

Hall & Woodhouse has donated 900 bottles of its Rio Tropical Light soft drink to the volunteers at the Exeter drive-through coronavirus test centre.

Daniel Thompson, General Manager of the Lighter Inn, which is part of the Hall & Woodhouse family, is currently volunteering at the test centre along with five other team members from the pub.

Situated at the Honiton Road Park and Ride in Exeter, the testing facility opened last month for NHS staff and other key workers.

Sourdough pizza pioneer, Franco Manca , in collaboration with Uber Eats , has announced that for every Franco Manca order delivered by Uber Eats it will be donating £1 to charity FareShare, who redistribute food to charities and food banks. The initiative will run until Monday 27th January 2020.

A pioneering project to promote wellbeing and good mental health for young children has received a cash injection from a leading housebuilder in the region.

Exeter’s Trinity Primary and Nursery School has been handed £1,000 from Persimmon Homes South West’s Community Champions fund to develop a unique project helping Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage One pupils learn about their emotions and how they affect mental health.

Exeter Eagles BMX Club welcomes a new defibrillator thanks to a generous donation from award-winning housing developer, Burrington Estates New Homes.

The volunteer-run BMX club based in Marsh Barton, Exeter holds race events throughout the year with up to 200 riders competing on race days. The club is a hub for the local community, welcoming over 9000 visitors a year.

Ashill Inn support Headway Devon

A local pub has raised a fantastic £510 for local people with brain injuries following their Christmas draw.

The Ashill Inn in Cullompton decided to support Headway Devon following the experiences of two of their regular customers, Anne and Dave Brummitt. The couple have been supported by the charity after Dave sustained a brain injury in 2016. The Exeter Foundation has donated a new bladder scanner to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital’s Bolham Ward in memory of former patient Patrick Tilbury.

Patrick’s parents Barbara and David Tilbury applied to the Foundation for the £6,000 donation to the neurological ward, which Patrick was cared for in January 2016 before he sadly passed away.

£1,000 donated to help children with cancer

Children who are treated for cancer at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital are set to enjoy a variety of new toys for their outdoor play area thanks to a £1,000 donation from the St George’s Masonic Lodge in Exeter.

The donation has been made by the Lodge in memory Jennie Wortham who spent six years under the care of the Paediatric Oncology Team on Bramble Ward before she died of neuroblastoma in November 1997.
