Exeter School hosts Choral Society Concert in Exeter Cathedral

Exeter School is looking forward to performing its annual Choral Society concert in Exeter Cathedral on Thursday 21 March, which this year will feature music by Handel and Poulenc. Made up of current pupils, parents, staff and guests, the concert will feature four pieces. The full chorus and orchestra will perform Part 2 of arguably the best-loved choral work in Britain, Handel's Messiah, including the Hallelujah Chorus, and also Poulenc's Gloria, which combines chords and rhythms more often found in jazz along with hauntingly beautiful melodies. Exeter School is pleased to complete this year’s Oxbridge admissions process with the announcement that three pupils have been offered places.

At Cambridge, Charlie Mayall has an offer to read Medicine and Jamie Stephenson an offer to read Maths, both at Jesus College.

Over £10,000 raised for charity in four months

Exeter School pupils and staff are celebrating a successful first term of fundraising with the news that over £10,000 has been raised for charity in one term.

Each year a committee of Sixth Form representatives selects three charities for the school to support during the course of the academic year. For the autumn term, pupils chose Rowcroft Hospice, an independent charity providing a wide range of specialist palliative care services for people and their families with progressive life-limiting illnesses in South Devon. Exeter School Chaplain's head shave raises over £5,000 for St Petrock's

Exeter School Chaplain Revd Tom Carson succeeded in raising over £5,000 for St Petrock's and in return had his head shaved by the Head of History Giles Trelawny in front of a crowd of pupils and staff.

So far £5,143 (not including gift aid) has been raised for St. Petrock's and donations can still be made at www.virginmoneygiving.com/fund/shaverevtom .

An Exeter School alumnus has been awarded the prestigious Sword of Honour at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. Nathaniel Newman (2006 - 2013) was presented with the honour of ‘Best Cadet’ at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. Prestigious Army Scholarship awarded to Exeter School Sixth Former

A prestigious Army Scholarship has been awarded to an Exeter School Sixth Former.

Upper Sixth Former Hope Evans is the recipient of a Sixth Form scholarship which means she has a guaranteed place at Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) following university.

Army Section Senior Cadet Hope plans on studying Medicine at university and said she was delighted at the opportunity.

Exeter School, the city's largest independent school, is celebrating another excellent set of GCSE results.

Almost three-quarters of all grades - 74.5% - were A* or A/9-7, compared to the national average of 20.5%.

Of the 110 pupils in Year 11, 66 achieved 8 or more A* or A/9-7 grades in the year the school celebrates its 20th anniversary of co-education.

Exeter School celebrates excellent A-level results

In the year that Exeter School commemorates its 20th year of full co-education, pupils, parents and staff are celebrating an excellent set of A Level results, with a 100% pass rate.

Thirty-seven pupils scored three or more A* or A grades, with over a quarter - 26% - of all results at A*. 58% of all grades were A* or A, with 82% at A*, A or B.

Two Moors Festival honour for Exeter School musician

A 13-year-old pupil from Exeter School is celebrating being named Young Musician of the Year at the prestigious Two Moors Festival.

Double bass player Adam Cole shares the title with three other young musicians.

Year 9 pupil Adam likes playing classical and jazz music on double bass and piano.
