Local charity Hospiscare is reminding women to enrol for the Hospiscare Ladies Walk which this year is for one night only on Saturday 11th May, in Exmouth.
The walk this year has an earlier start time of 8pm, and a new 12K route along the seafront and through the Exmouth countryside incorporating the cycle path to Budleigh.
All participants will then be offered refreshments back in the marquee, with live music to enjoy. Judi Spiers from BBC Radio Devon and John Humphreys, the Mayor of Exmouth, are both supporting the walk, and we hope you can too!
More than 100 women have already signed up to take part in this year’s Starlight Walk for Hospiscare, which has a new 12k route along Exmouth’s seafront and beautiful countryside.
The walk is back for one night only taking place on Saturday May 11. The Hospiscare ladies walk usually takes place on two nights with one walk in Tiverton and one in Exmouth.
But Hospiscare has combined the walks to one venue for 2013 to maximise the amount of money raised.
Hospiscare fundraising volunteer Cynthia Broomfield, who has taken part and helped at the walks since they began,...
Exmouth is taking pride of place at the Western end of the Jurassic Coast as finishing touches are applied to the Jurassic Coast Gateway.
The £500,000 scheme will be completed in time for the Easter holidays, transforming the Orcombe area of Exmouth and highlighting its status as the oldest part of the World Heritage Site.
Devon County Council has funded the improvements, working in partnership with East Devon District Council, Exmouth Town Council, the National Trust and Clinton Devon Estates, and in liaison with the Jurassic Coast and South West Coast Path Teams.
£2,590.47 was the total raised from the Exmouth RNLI SOS Day event, Six On Saddles. Held on Sunday 20 January, six volunteers from the lifeboat and shore crew cycled the Exe estuary to raise money towards the launch and recovery vehicle for the Shannon-class lifeboat expected in early 2014.
Max, Steve, Paul, Hedley, Lee and David donned their yellow oilskins and helmets to cycle the 22 mile route in sub-zero temperatures. Stopping off at sailing and fishing clubs along the route, the team collected money in buckets and were treated to lunch at Darts Farm. Starcross Fishing and...
Motorists in East Devon will soon be able to take advantage of cut price parking deals around the district as several trial offers get underway.
Axminster, Honiton, Sidmouth and Exmouth are all set to benefit from deals in specific local car parks aimed at encouraging longer visits to town centres and visitor attractions. It’s part of a trial which aims to find out what long term parking offers the council might be able to make. It aims to boost local trade and keep high streets healthy whilst not reducing the parking income it receives, as this is used to fund essential local...
East Devon District Council Cabinet next week will consider a report describing progress on the priority projects helping to regenerate Exmouth.
Part of the report brings all councillors up to speed on the Exmouth Splash, in particular the outcomes of the recent public consultation and some changes to the proposed scheme that local people have asked for.
Members will decide whether to give officers the green light to take forward actions to redevelop the Exmouth Splash area including discussion with interested parties and the processes to deliver new attractions such as an...
With the Hospiscare Men’s Walk only a couple of weeks away, the charity has announced that registration opened on Thursday 28 February for the Ladies’ Starlight Walk.
The event, which is taking place on Saturday 11 May in Exmouth, has a new name, new route and new start time but the same feeling of togetherness, as ladies raise money for the charity which provides end of life care for patients in Exeter, mid and East Devon.
Formerly the Midnight Walk, the new Starlight Walk, which starts and finishes at Exmouth rugby club and is sponsored by estate agents Whitton and Laing...
Police are appealing to the public for help following a string of shoplifting offences in Devon. The four offences, which police believe involve the same men, occurred on the same day, 1 February, at shops in Exmouth, Teignmouth, Paignton and Torquay. Then at around 1.10pm at the Co-Op in Ilsham Road in Torquay two men entered the store and together stole four bottles of Smirnoff...
The Exmouth RNLI inshore lifeboat George Bearman was tasked at 6.17pm on Wednesday (20 February) by Brixham coastguard to rescue two men in the river Exe.
The casualties had jumped onto a moored yacht as their dinghy sank in difficult sailing conditions.
The charity’s three-man volunteer crew launched as darkness fell and winds were gusting force six, during an ebb tide. The team’s trained navigation skills were tested as the emergency call gave only details of the location, near Cockwood harbour.
The two men had been attempting to reach a speedboat moored on the...
