The Mandolin Orchestra of Devon has been running for several years and has performed at many events to critical acclaim, including the London Mandolin Festival and the Banjo, Mandolin and Guitar Foundation rally.

In the early twentieth century the mandolin had something of a golden age. New website to help local employers fill their apprenticeship vacancies

Skills Group has worked with local company, Altitude, to launch a new website promoting apprenticeship vacancies to young people.

Cancer support group relaunches

FORCE is relaunching its support group for younger women with breast cancer.

From November 11, drop-in sessions will be held at the charity’s Support and Information Centre in Exeter on the second Wednesday of each month from 1.30pm-3pm.

Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in women but it is less common in the under 50s for whom it presents specific issues.

The Younger Women’s Breast Cancer Support Group (under 50s) offers an opportunity to talk in a supportive and informal environment.

A funding project bringing together county, district, town and parish councils is kickstarting community projects across Devon and hopes to do more in 2015

The 'Town and Parish Fund' or TAP is the name given to the initiative whereby Devon County Council allocates £1 per elector per annum and district councils contribute 10p per elector, totalling around £600,000

This money is available for towns and parishes to join together to apply for funding that can make a difference to their communities.

Exeter City Football Club will be making clear its opposition to homophobia in football at its home game with Cambridge United next week. (Tuesday 10 February).
