Ghostly goings-on in Ottery St Mary

Halloween has come early at The Volunteer Inn in Broad Street, Ottery St Mary with some mysterious shenanigans.

On two occasions candles used for the restaurant tables have relit after being extinguished the night before.

The first time, cleaners discovered two candles alight even though staff were adamant they had extinguished them. On the second occasion, candles on two adjacent restaurant tables were burning - even though landlady Jacqui Down had herself made sure they were put out.

Halloween Murder Mystery Evening: Dolly

A special Halloween themed evening of great food and a haunting tale involving a mysterious doll.

Here are no such things as ghosts…are there? After a close knit family inherit a battered and bruised doll they accept it politely enough, after all it must have been loved and cared for in the past…or so they think. They name her Dolly, but soon after Dolly arrives in the house strange things start to happen.

Is Dolly responsible for these mysterious events? And if so, will anyone sleep soundly in their beds this Halloween?

The Evening will begin at 7pm for a 7.30pm...

Bakes and bargains for Halloween at FORCE shop

The FORCE Cancer Charity shop in Heavitree will have some bewitching bargains to celebrate Halloween on Saturday (October 29).

Every piece of clothing in the Fore Street store will be on sale at half price and there will also be homemade cakes for sale.

“Why not pop in for a spell,” said FORCE Shop Manager Anna Heard. “We promise there will be more thrills than chills and you’ll miss a trick if you don’t treat yourself.”

She and her staff will be in fancy dress for the day to add to the enchanted atmosphere.

Spooky goings on are taking place at parks, gardens and nature reserves across Teignbridge next week.

There are Halloween events taking place at Victoria Park, Buckfastleigh and Shaldon’s Homeyards Botanical Gardens where Teignbridge will be working with local groups to make the events spook-tacular! Everyone is welcome.

This October half term there will be plenty of spooky goings-on at The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth. With holiday hunts, pumpkin carving and plenty of family fun there is sure to be something for everyone.

Visitors to the Sanctuary during this half term (Monday 24 October – Sunday 30 October) can expect a range of spooktacular events, ready to get them in the trick-or-treating spirit.

Exeter film premiere for psychological thriller Hell's Bells

Having smashed its Crowdfunder target earlier this year, Hell's Bells, made by Exeter based film and theatre company Wandering Tiger, will receive a local screening on Friday 2 December 2016 at Exeter Phoenix as part of the Two Short Nights film festival.

For those who can't wait that long, Halloween will also see the release of a special Hell's Bells trailer via Wandering Tiger's website and social media.
