The housing market in Exeter has been given an early spring boost following news that buyers will have their best opportunity ever to secure a low mortgage rate in the next few months.

How safe is your shed?

Most people use their shed to store garden equipment, bicycles and even expensive power tools. Yet, often, sheds are fitted with inadequate locks, or no lock at all.

Since June last year, over seventy-one victims in South Devon had their sheds broken into and property stolen. Almost half of these occurred in Teignbridge.

Fourteen sheds were broken into in Torquay and twelve across Ivybride and Kingsbridge. The areas reporting the fewest number of break-ins were Totnes, Dartmouth, Paignton and Brixham.

A team of Exeter students have reached the final four of an international competition, designed to showcase technological innovation.

The Computer Science undergraduates devised a ground-breaking home security system, which allows doors to be locked and unlocked via a normal mobile phone.

Energy efficient homes linked to asthma

The drive for energy efficient homes could increase asthma risks, according to new research.

Led by a team at the University of Exeter Medical School, the research has found that a failure by residents to heat and ventilate retrofitted properties could lead to more people developing the respiratory condition.

Work starts on Exmouth sea wall

An 80 tonne crane has taken up residence on Exmouth Pierhead as nearly £1 million of work starts to replace the sea wall.

This is the final element of infrastructure work in the redevelopment of Exmouth Quay.

The wall replacement is a necessary first step before construction work starts in earnest early next year on a five storey development of 14 waterside apartments.
