Helicopters move to Exeter Airport

Devon and Cornwall Police and Devon Air Ambulance Trust have this week relocated helicopter operations to a new shared airbase at Exeter Airport. The two aircraft have been moved from the former site at Police Headquarters, Middlemoor, following the sale of land for development. The helicopters will be housed at a secure location at the nearby airport which features a dedicated landing pad, hangar and purpose-built flight operations offices for both teams. Over seventy families from council owned properties across Exeter have joined a University of Bath study that aims to reduce energy use within homes. It has long been known that identical homes with identical numbers of occupants differ greatly in the amount they spend on energy. The University of Bath is now carrying out work to establish why this is. 'Revenge eviction' fears in South West

Thousands of renters in the South West are too scared of being evicted to ask their private landlord to fix a problem in their home, according to research from the charity Shelter released today. A YouGov poll of more than 4,500 private renters across the country found that 1 in 12 renters (8%) in the South West avoided asking their landlord to repair a problem or improve conditions in the last year because they feared eviction. New house building site in Exeter

An Exeter housebuilder has revealed plans to launch a new local site within the next 12 months. David Wilson Homes claim that the site for 40 houses will provide around 80 new jobs in building and sales, mostly for local tradesmen and sub-contractors.

Exmouth bungalow fire being treated as suspicious

A joint police and fire service investigation has been launched following a fire at a bungalow in Exmouth which was severely damaged.

The fire broke out at the property in Kay Close, Exmouth at around 8pm on Wednesday 7 August 2013.

No-one was in the property at the time.

The fire, which is being treated as suspicious, spread to other properties causing smoke damage.

Three residents from neighbouring properties were evacuated but no-one was injured.
