The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall will be attending the Honiton Gate to Plate event on Wednesday 18 July, Clarence House has announced today (Friday July 13).

Eight gymnasts from Honiton Gymnastics Club represented the south west region at the National Development Plan (NDP) Finals at the weekend, and each one of the returned with medals after finishing in podium places.

Honiton Tae Kwon Do student Oliver Buss achieved his First Degree black belt after being put through his paces at the Headquarters of the Tae Kwon Do Association of Great Britain (TAGB) in Bristol.
Oliver had to show his skill in front of the TAGB board of grading examiners, all of whom are 8th Degree Black Belts with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the martial art.

Students from Honiton Tae Kwon Do attended the TAGB South West Championships and the TAGB English Championships, bagging an impressive 12 trophies from the two events.
At the South West Championships, Ben Snaith continued his medal success by winning gold in Boys Blue and Red Belt Heavyweight Sparring and becoming South West Champion. Roxy Spiller won gold in Girls Blue Belt Patterns, adding South West Champion to her list of titles. Roxy also obtained silver in her sparring division, narrowly missing out on becoming a double champion.

When Neil Brown, aged 53 from Dunkeswell, started swimming regularly at the age of 28 he had no idea how large a part of his life it would become. A medal and certificate from the early 1900s awarded to an heroic sailor is to be auctioned by Chilcotts in their March sale.
Research into the award has thrown up some fascinating nuggets of maritime history, say the auctioneers.
Dating from 1910, the medal was presented by the Liverpool Shipwreck and Humane Society to one Charles MacIver for ‘most skilfully rescuing one of the crew of the yacht Cintra , knocked over board by the breaking of the mast at the Dartmouth Regatta on the 26th August 1910.’
