Bea sets Chilcotts buzzing!

Chilcotts Auctioneers has swelled its ranks with the addition of a new apprentice saleroom assistant.

Bea Bandyszewska, from Luppit, has joined the Silver Street auction room on an apprenticeship scheme through Exeter College. Previously, she attended Honiton Community College, studying A Levels in Health & Social Care, Business Studies and IT.

Of her decision to undertake an apprenticeship, Bea said: “I wasn’t particularly interested in going to university, but was fired up by the idea of training and working at the same time.

Thanks to overwhelming support from the local community 24-year old Mark Wakely, a plumber at Fords in Sidmouth, has made it through to the final five in the 2016 UK Plumber of the Year competition. Thank you Devon!

Dead pigeons found lined up on road

Devon and Cornwall Police are investigating reports of dozens of dead pigeons having been placed on a road near Honiton.

A member of the public informed police just after 9am today (Wednesday 3rd August) that a number of dead pigeons had been placed in a line along the markings in the centre of the road on the A35 near Windmill Garage and along Battishorne Way and Weatherhill Road.

A30 route options to be considered in public consultation

Three potential route options to improve the first section of the A30/A303 between Honiton and Ilminster have been unveiled by Devon County Council as it launches a two month public consultation this week (Wednesday 3 August).

Devon County Council is promoting and developing the A30 Honiton to Devonshire Inn section to a preferred route stage with the aim of securing funding through the Government’s Road Investment Strategy, which outlines investment in the strategic road network.

Change to Honiton MIU opening times

The opening hours of Honiton minor injuries unit (MIU) are to be temporarily reduced from Sunday 31 July 2016.

The MIU is currently open from 8am to 10pm, seven days a week.

From 31 July, it will be open from 8am to 8pm every day.

Chilcotts Auctioneers has recently invested in a new set of stylish corporate clothing for the auction house team.

The updated workwear range includes quilted and fleece gilets and jackets, shirts, blouses and polos. All are in the established blue colours of the Honiton business, and branded with embroidered logos.

New Hospiscare warehouse to open in Honiton

Hospiscare’s massive new warehouse store, filled with furniture, household goods and retro finds will be opened by the Mayor of Honiton on Tuesday 21 June at 10.30am.
