Have you got an old clock that you’d like to become part of an ambitious new art installation at East Devon’s Thelma Hulbert Gallery (THG) in Honiton?

After defeating other competing venues to win the chance to work with celebrated international artist Luke Jerram for this year's Museums at Night festival, staff and volunteers at THG are calling on the community to play an important part in Luke’s installation by bringing their unwanted clocks to the gallery.

Stephen Cogger found safe and well

65-year-old Stephen Cogger who was missing has now been found safe and well near Honiton.

Police are appealing for the public’s help to trace a 65-year-old man missing from Honiton.

Stephen Cogger was last seen at his home in Millhead Road around 10pm on Wednesday [26 August].

Police are concerned for his welfare and say the disappearance is out-of-character.

Officers, supported by the police helicopter and Exmoor Rescue Group, have been conducting searches for Mr Cogger.

The Chilcotts saleroom in Honiton turned into a temporary garage recently to take delivery of an instantly recognisable Morris Minor, which will bring back happy memories for the post war generation.

Although unkindly nicknamed a ‘poached egg’ by the founder of Morris Motors, William Morris, this classic car symbolises the emergence from post-war austerity and the rise of the car as a mode of transport that everyone could aspire to.

Refreshments raise thousands for Hospiscare

An ongoing fundraising initiative at Chilcotts Auctioneers has raised nearly £7,000 through sales of refreshments to eager visitors.

Every auction day, Chilcotts hands over the staff kitchen to the local Hospiscare team to sell teas, coffees and snacks including delicious home-made cakes and bacon rolls.

The initiative began in 2011 after Chilcotts discovered an old kitchen in a dusty room adjacent to the saleroom in Honiton; the room was being used by Stags Estate Agents to store their sale boards.

Appeal following Honiton burglaries

Police in Honiton are appealing for information following two burglaries in the Town.

Two burglaries took place at static homes located on Otter Valley Park in Honiton, sometime between 1pm on Friday 6 August and 8am on Saturday 7 August.

Both properties were entered by forcing a door and once inside and following an untidy search items of property, many valued at thousands of pounds and of sentimental value were stolen.

Dog on Tour: Maggie and Oscar embark on last leg of epic charity ride

Maggie Scorer, who in March set off on a 5000- mile ‘Dog on Tour’ cycling challenge around the UK coast with her faithful companion, eight-year-old golden retriever Oscar, is now on the last leg of her journey.

Maggie has spent nearly 150 days and approximately 4500 miles cycling to raise £25,000 for Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal charity and blood cancer charity Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.

They began their journey in Suffolk and travelled northwards along the east coast, anti-clockwise, and hit a mile stone by reaching Lands Ends last week.

Honiton’s Chamber of Commerce and the East Devon branch of the Federation of Small Businesses have joined forces to put on a free business advice and networking event at the Beehive in Honiton, and they are looking for exhibitors to take part.

The ‘Honiton Together’ event on September 24 will see representatives from local banks, accountants, law firms, printers and other organisations coming together under one roof to give advice on a variety of issues from setting up a business to corporation tax, business banking and support services.

MP walks the Guide Dogs Walk of Fame

Neil Parish MP was given a star on Guide Dogs’ pavement parking Walk of Fame for supporting the charity’s campaign to stop cars parking on pavements.

The MP for Tiverton and Honiton attended Guide Dogs’ event at the Houses of Parliament on the 10th of June in support of their campaign.
