Innovative local digital startup Krowdthink and the Plymouth and Devon Chamber are partnering to make the networking opportunity at the Plymouth Business Show on Wednesday 17 June at Plymouth Pavilions, a fantastically enhanced digital experience for exhibitors and visitors.

Buckfast Abbey to host storytelling festival

In celebration of 30 years of providing inspirational, hands-on learning experiences to schools across the region, Buckfast Abbey’s Education Department will play host to a major Christian Storytelling Festival from 2nd to 4th July. Freehand is a new exhibition of inspirational craftwork made by local young people and adults in workshops run by the Devon Guild, during 2014-15

Plymouth and Devon Chamber of Commerce has revealed that Thrive Hubs – an innovative network of co-working hubs set to launch at several Plymouth sites – is to be the headline sponsor for the forthcoming Plymouth Business Show.

A former Royal Navy Wren has become the latest new recruit to jump on board with the region’s leading house builder.

Charlotte Donaldson, who spent four-and-a-half years in the Navy, has been appointed sales negotiator at Persimmon Homes South West and will be based at the builder’s Palmerston Heights development in Plymouth.

It’s a change of direction for Charlotte from Plymouth, who has spent most of her working life as an Air Survival Technician in the Navy.

2,000 children to compete in Devon School Games

The legacy of the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics lives on in Devon with over 2,000 young people competing at this year’s Devon Summer School Games.

The Games are taking place on Wednesday 24th June in Plymouth across the some of its most iconic sporting sites.

These sites include the Plymouth Life Centre, Central Park, Plymouth Albion RFC and The Brickfields Recreational Ground. Plymouth School Sport Partnership are hosting the Games in conjunction with Active Devon, with support from RELAYS.

Dartmoor Zoo awarded Santander Foundation grant

Dartmoor Zoo has been successful in its application for the Santander Foundation Charity Plus Grant.

Director Benjamin Mee visited the Plymouth Branch of Santander to collect a cheque for £4750.

Benjamin, appearing in the photo with Dawn Young, Helen Retallick & Sara Williams said: "This is a very important donation from the Santander Foundation.

"The money will be used to help improve disabled access at the zoo. I have been trying for eight years to get tarmac on the slippery path by the tiger enclosure, this grant will make that possible."

The X Factor auditions are back on the road in search of the best and freshest vocal talent as it looks to uncover the nation’s next big singing star.

The UK’s favourite singing show will be visiting Plymouth on Tuesday 19th May with auditions at Plymouth Pavilions, Millbay Road, Plymouth PL1 3LF. Auditions will be from 11am to 5pm.
