Applications are now open for groups in Devon to apply for grants of up to £3000.

Grassroots Grants up to £500, Connection Grants up to £1000 and Action Grants up to £3000 are available for projects that can prove they will have a positive impact on vulnerable young people and will help cut crime, especially anti social behaviour, substance abuse or school absenteeism.

A377 reopens after crash

The A377 has re-opened after being closed in both directions after a serious accident.

Emergency crews were called just before 11pm on Friday.

When police arrived on the scene they found a vehicle on its roof with a person trapped inside.

Two fire appliances from Crediton used hydraulic cutting equipment, a saw and small tools to release the casualty who was conveyed to hospital by ambulance crews.

The closure is between the Five Elms Lane junction and the Four Mills Lane junction, because of accident investigation work.

Man dies after fall from window in Exeter

A 39-year old man has died following a fall from a flat window in Exeter on Friday 10th July.

Police attended St James Road, Exeter following concerns for a man in one of the properties.

Police remained outside the property and were able to engage in discussions with the man, who was communicating from the third floor flat window.

Whilst police were at the scene and in discussions with the man, it appears that he fell from the window of the flat and suffered a serious head injury.

Police in Tiverton need the public’s help to identify two men they would like to speak to in connection with commercial burglaries in the town.

Two businesses on Angel Hill were broken into in the early hours of Monday 15 June, sometime before 8am.

The offenders are believed to have entered the premises by forcing their way in through the side doors.

A large grey safe, with a black handle on the front, was removed by the offenders from inside the Yorkshire Building Society.

Cup thrown from car smashes coach windscreen

Police are appealing for information after the windscreen of a coach, carrying children, was damaged by a cup thrown from a car near Exeter.

The Hamilton Gray coach was travelling on the A379 Dawlish Road, near Exminster, at 4.10pm on Wednesday 8 July when the cup was thrown from a small red vehicle that was also moving at the time.

The windscreen of the Volvo coach smashed, with glass showering the driver and passengers, who were children. No-one was injured as a result of the incident.

Wiltshire Police are appealing for information regarding the whereabouts of Phillip Minshall, aged 23, from Swindon.

Mr Minshall was last seen at his home address in Toothill on the morning of 30th June when he left to go into the town centre. He has not been seen or heard from since.

Mr Minshall, who is originally from the Manchester area, has been living with his girlfriend in Swindon for the past three months.

Dartmoor rangers sign up to police initiative

Dartmoor National Park (DNP) Rangers and Devon and Cornwall Police have just formally announced that they will be working in closer partnership through the Community Safety Accreditation Scheme (CSAS).

CSAS was introduced through the Police Reform Act 2002 and enables each Chief Constable to authorise the use of targeted powers by trusted organisations, which contribute toward community safety, and help tackle crime and disorder, public nuisance and other forms of anti-social behaviour in co-operation within their force area.

Do you recognise either of these men? British Transport Police (BTP) officers want to speak to them after the ticket office window at Honiton was smashed. The incident happened at around 9.35pm on Saturday, 6 June. PC Gary Archer said: “Two men left the platform and started messing about on the tracks. “They crossed several times before picking up ballast and making their way to the front of the station where they smashed the ticket office window.” Officers have analysed CCTV from the station and are today issuing images of two men who they think can help with enquiries into the incident....

Devon and Cornwall’s Police and Crime Commissioner is asking the public to help him secure more money to protect the front line service. Man charged following Exeter drugs warrant

A man has been charged after officers carried out a drugs warrant at an address in Tedburn St Mary, Exeter.

A Misuse of Drugs Act warrant was executed at the property on the morning of Wednesday 1 July by officers from Newton Abbot CID and the South Devon Tasking Team.

Entry was forced to the address and what is believed to be a sophisticated cannabis growing operation was located inside.

A man was located at the premises and arrested.
