Police in Devon are appealing for information following a spate of burglaries targeting commercial properties. The burglaries occurred at commercial premises in both Mid and East Devon between Thursday 16th January and Friday 31st January and it is suspected that a stolen vehicle on false number plates was used during the raids. The vehicle, a Toyota 4x4 Hilux was stolen from a driveway of a property in Chevithorne near Tiverton on Monday 13th January.

Dartmoor hosts air crash exercise

Dartmoor Training Area and Okehampton Battle Camp were the location of a simulated aviation incident for a training exercise recently. The South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust’s Hazardous Area Response Team, who organised the exercise at Okehampton, were testing their capabilities, and those of several other agencies, in responding to a mass casualty exercise.

Spate of motorcycle thefts in Devon

Police are appealing for information after a spate of off-road motorcycle thefts in the Teignbridge area over the last weekend. Some five bikes worth £34,000 were taken in one raid from a remote location in Tedburn St Mary. The five bikes belong to motocross freestyle professional Jamie Sqiubb (pictured) whose bikes are his livelihood. Taken were a green 2014 Kawaski KXF450F, a blue 2011 Yamaha YZ250, a red Gasgas 250 trial bike and two red Honda CRF 50cc mini bikes. Tragic death in Sidmouth after car collapses on man

A Sidmouth man in his 30s tragically died this weekend after a car he was working on collapsed onto him. Two crews of Firefighters from Sidmouth fire station were called to the man’s family home on Betjeman Close at around 6:30pm on Saturday evening. The crews found the man had already been released from the fallen car and gave CPR to the badly injured man. Fire crews then called for police assistance to take the man from the scene. Unexploded bombs found following the storms

Several wartime explosives have been spotted on the South West coast including in Braunton in Devon.

Thought to have been swept ashore or uncovered by the recent storms, three devices have been reported in Devon, Somerset and Dorset last weekend.

Police have asked that people stay away from any suspicious objects found on the coast due to the possibility of more explosives being found.

A new National Rural Crime Network, endorsed by eighteen (18) of the UK’s Police and Crime Commissioners, including Devon and Cornwall’s Tony Hogg, has been set-up to help tackle rural crime more effectively in England and Wales. Police have discovered a suspected cannabis growing business at a property in Brixham.

Acting on intelligence, officers from Brixham Neighbourhood Team, entered a premises on South Furzeham Road at around 2.30pm on Friday 31 January. Two conmen were jailed for a total of nine years on Thursday 30 January 2014 after conning 48 elderly victims out of tens of thousands of pounds. A third man was given a suspended sentence and ordered to carry out unpaid work. Parachutes stolen in Exmouth

Police are appealing for information after three valuable parachutes were stolen from a van in Exmouth. Thieves broke into the yellow Volkswagen Transporter van while it was parked near to the Imperial Hotel on The Esplanade on the evening of 31 January. They forced open the passenger door and stole three rucksacks containing Javelin parachutes, valued at £18,000, and a £1,000 MacBook Pro laptop.
