Top 40 accountants Bishop Fleming and Top 200 lawyers Stephens Scown, both with head offices based in Exeter, joined forces last Friday (16 December) to bring Christmas cheer to the shoppers of Princesshay.
The firms' choirs, ABBA-cus (Bishop Fleming) and The Rolling Scowns (Stephens Scown) provided a joint performance of Christmas songs to help Exeter shoppers get into the festive spirit whilst also raising valuable funds for Age UK Exeter.
A total of £209.72 was raised for the charity during the hour-long carol recital.
A giant snow globe in the city has raised over £1,200 for Exeter Deaf Academy, Princesshay’s charity of the year. The snow globe allows passers-by to climb inside, play in the pretend snow and have a festive photo taken.
Princesshay’s Operations Manager, Andy Littlejohns said: “Exeter Deaf Academy is a local, dynamic charity which provides excellent support for the deaf community. The snow globe was so popular last year so we knew we wanted to bring it back, raising funds for the Academy in the process.”

On Thursday 8th December, Princesshay shoppers were treated to a different kind of carol service by the Exeter Deaf Academy.
Students from Exeter Deaf Academy took to Princesshay to perform carol favourites, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Silent Night, O Come all ye Faithful, Away in a Manger, Frosty the Snowman and White Christmas, in British Sign Language (BSL).

The Crown Estate and TH Real Estate’s plans for an extension to Princesshay Shopping Centre have been submitted to Exeter City Council for approval. Outline consent for the scheme was formally granted in July 2016. This saw the basic concept for the scheme approved, including things like its size and scale, and the types of uses that it will include. Exeter Deaf Academy, Princesshay's charity of the year, launched its charity raffle of a Mercedes Benz A-Class in April and now the countdown has started to announce the winner of the amazing prize, a £22,000 A-Class, courtesy of Mercedes-Benz of Exeter to raise money for the Exeter Deaf Academy.
To date, volunteers have sold over 4,000 raffle tickets from the stand in Princesshay and with the busy shopping period beginning, it is hoped that this figure will double before the winning ticket is drawn on the 24th December.

Last month Princesshay launched a competition on its website to name its Christmas Polar Bears, a hugely popular feature of the city’s Christmas lights.
More than 250 entries were received, with Clarence (cub) and Hope (Mum) selected as the winning names.
