'Remarkable' NHS staff praised in bedside vigil diary

A family has published the diary they kept during their bedside vigil in the Royal Devon & Exeter Intensive Care Unit so that relatives in similar circumstances understand the benefits of recording their experience during this difficult time.

Nurses at the RD&E write regular updates in a diary for each critically ill patient in their care and encourage relatives to record their thoughts, experience and news about their domestic or working life. The diaries have been recognised as a valuable resource in a number of ways for the patients and their families....

Police appeal after female cyclist involved in serious injury road traffic collision

Police in Exeter are appealing for information following a serious injury road traffic collision. At approx 5.45am on Wednesday 23 October, a female cyclist was found lying in the road at the junction of Honiton Road, and Lower Hill Barton Road, Exeter. It is believed the cyclist had been riding along the offside pavement travelling towards the city centre. The woman, aged in her early 20s, was found unconscious and lying in the centre of the junction. She was taken to the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital, Wonford, suffering from serious head injuries.
