Hat-trick of sports projects for Honiton

There is £50,000 of sports money available to Honiton that will be used to deliver three exciting projects.

This is Section 106 sports money, collected by East Devon District Council on every additional dwelling created in the town. EDDC has a groundbreaking policy of spending this money through a process of community involvement.

Honiton Town Council and EDDC worked together to publicise the fact that this money was available, asking individuals as well as sports organisations and voluntary and community groups to come forward with their ideas for how it should be spent...

The camps are non-residential holiday camps designed for 11-16 year olds providing ‘Nothing but Netball’; including top quality coaching, fun netball activities and even an opportunity to meet and be inspired by an England player. If you are a junior netball lover (or the parent of one!) these are an unmissable...

Baxter's joy as Cowan-Dickie agrees deal

Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter has spoken of his delight after highly-rated forward Luke Cowan-Dickie today put pen to paper on a new contract with the Aviva Premiership club.

The 20-year-old’s new deal – which is a two-year extension to his current contract – will keep him at Sandy Park until at least the summer of 2017 and is another clear indicator that Baxter is willing to back the club’s crop of promising youngsters to deliver on the big stage.

Cornishman Cowan-Dickie, a product of the club’s academy system at Truro College, has built on the success of helping...

Cowan-Dickie signs new deal

It’s been quite a year for Luke Cowan-Dickie, but the young Cornishman is predicting even brighter times ahead for him at Exeter Chiefs in the future.

The 20-year-old hooker today extended his stay at Sandy Park until 2017 when he penned terms on a new contract extension with head coach Rob Baxter.

In a 12-month period that has seen Cowan-Dickie help England Under-20s to Junior World Championship glory; the Chiefs to lift their first major silverware in 143 years; as well as featuring in the Aviva Premiership and Heineken Cup, it’s little wonder the Truro-born forward has...

After 21 rounds of bruising battle in the Aviva Premiership, Exeter Chiefs will head out at Newcastle Falcons tomorrow determined to land a telling final blow. In a season of highs and lows for Rob Baxter’s side, the dream of tackling Europe’s elite may have been curtailed with last weekend’s late loss to Harlequins, but as a whole the Chiefs leader insists there is much to be positive about ahead of their trip to Kingston Park. With the first major silverware in the bag, another tidy showing in the Heineken Cup and some notable scalps within the Premiership, Baxter says the foundations...

Bicton College Chiefs Academy Wins Prestigious Cup Final

Bicton College’s Chiefs Rugby Academy competed in the British Colleges Elite Final against Bishop Burton College and won with a resounding 35 – 20 score today.

The squad travelled to Staffordshire to play against fellow agricultural college Bishop Burton, joined by supporters keen to cheer on their team.

Ollie Dawe and Josh Caulfield returned to play from their England U17 appearances at the weekend where they won 29 - 25 against France. The side also welcomed back last year’s Captain Luke Mingo after a hand operation, making his final appearance playing for the College a...

Chiefs side to face Gloucester

Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter insists it's got to the stage of the season where nothing less than wins do for his side in their quest to reach the top six of the Aviva Premiership.

A hefty 45-15 loss at Leicester Tigers last Sunday has left Devon's finest with plenty to do between now and the end of the season, especially if they want to be part of the new-look top tier of European rugby.

After the euphoria of lifting the LV= Cup on their own turf a fortnight ago, the Chiefs were brought crashing back to down to earth with a bang by the Tigers at Welford Road. The ten...

The government has today said they will reconsider suggestions to extend alcohol licensing hours during the FIFA world cup pending the result of a consultation launched today.

The extension requested by the British Beer & Pub Association (BBPA) had been rejected by the Home Office earlier this year in favour of case-by-case temporary licensing orders, however the rejection was then overruled by the Prime Minister, David Cameron who called for a “re-think”. The decision has pleased pubs lobbyists who have called on landlords and others supporting an extension of licensing hours...

Hard work is the key, says Mumm

Aussie international Dean Mumm says Exeter Chiefs must continue to keep working hard in their bid to rediscover their winning touch in the Aviva Premiership.

Sunday's 23-10 loss at Saracens not only gave Rob Baxter's side an unwanted hat-trick of losses against the division's top three in as many weeks, but also condemned the Chiefs to a seventh league loss in eight starts.

With London Irish next on the agenda at Sandy Park this Saturday (3pm), Mumm is hoping a return to home comforts will help re-ignite the Chiefs after a testing few weeks.

"There are positives to...

Exeter Chiefs can confirm that Saturday’s Aviva Premiership clash with visiting Bath Rugby is now an official sell-out. The final few tickets for the eagerly-anticipated game, which will kick-off at 3.15pm, were sold early on Monday morning and mean Sandy Park will play host to a crowd of 10,744. Exeter Rugby Club chief executive Tony Rowe OBE said: “We’re delighted to announce another sell-out crowd here at Sandy Park, games between ourselves and Bath are always great occasions and I’ve no doubt this will be no different. “The fact it’s a local derby – and that we still have yet to beat...
