Devon project ‘The Devon Active Villages’ are urging locals to give them their support and help them win this year’s National Lottery Awards. Last Saturday (13 July) saw over 600 competitors converge on Exeter Quay for the annual City of Exeter rowing regatta. With over 150 events, the regatta ran from 10:30am to 6:30pm and was the biggest event for ten years. The day saw large crowds enjoying the Mediterranean weather and cheering on the competitors.

Devon Active Villages project needs your vote now!

County Sport Partnership Active Devon has today urged Devon people to get behind them and vote for the Devon Active Villages project to win the National Lottery Awards 2013. The project is competing against six other projects for the title of Best Sport Project and is the only local project in England in its category.

Golf enthusiasts called for annual Hospiscare event

Golf enthusiasts will be taking to the green in July to play in one of Devon’s premier golf tournaments while raising money for Hospiscare.

More than 200 people have already signed up to take part in the Hospiscare Golf Day, being held on Thursday, July 11, where they will have the chance to take home the Marnie Burgoyne Memorial Trophy.

Now in its ninth year, the much-loved amateur tournament has raised approximately £80,000 and the event’s organisers are hoping that this amount will rise to £100,000 when they celebrate its tenth anniversary in 2014.

Puzzletree hosts sports day for all

The Puzzletree in Okehampton is hosting a fun day of sport on Monday 24 June from 10am-4pm.

This year’s event is the third in succession that the Puzzletree has organised for people with learning disabilities.

The fun day is free to attend, and includes a variety of sports to encourage people to try new activities, as well as those they already enjoy.

Budleigh Salterton parish residents are being asked to decide how to spend £35,000 available for sports in the area.

Budleigh Salterton Town Council and EDDC are taking their voting stall to Budleigh Gala Week, The Green, Budleigh Salterton on Saturday 25 May between 1pm and 4.30pm. So why not go along and cast your vote?

Fitness trainers of the future battle it out in regional competition

Young people from across the region took part in a series of tests on Thursday as Exeter College hosted the inaugural South West CYQ Fitness Trainer Competition. Students from Exeter College’s Exercise and Fitness and Personal Trainer and Sports Massage courses were joined by competitors from Petroc to decide who would be the South West winners and go through to the National final.
