Police are appealing for information following a burglary at a business premises in Woodbury Salterton. The incident occurred sometime overnight between Wednesday 20 August and Thursday 21 August at the premises of Raceworld, located at Greendale Business Park, in Woodbury Salterton. Rural crime cost the SW £5.5m in 2013

Rural crime cost the South West economy an estimated £5.5 million in 2013 (a slight decrease from £5.6 million in 2012).

The figures are part of a UK-wide survey by NFU Mutual.

The leading rural insurer’s annual Rural Crime Survey shows the nationwide cost of rural crime totalled an estimated £44.5 million in 2013 – a rise of 5.2%.

The most common items targeted by thieves in the South West over the last 12 months were tools, quad bikes and machinery such as hay balers and ploughs.

Vintage Mini stolen in Ottery St Mary

Police in Ottery St Mary are investigating the theft of a rare vintage car from the town overnight.

The 1968 MKII Austin Mini Cooper was stolen from a car park at Otter Mills Switch Gear on Mill Street.

The owner went out from his home earlier today to find the car had been taken.

The car is white in colour with black wheels and a black roof with the registration mark NDV 919G.

Man charged after Exeter Bank Raid

A 39-year-old man has been charged with robbery following a bank robbery in Exeter city centre on Monday 24 March. Justin Bracken Lee, will appear at Exeter Magistrates' Court today, Friday, 28 March 2014.

Police are investigating the bank robbery which took place at around 1.10pm on Monday at the Natwest in Exeter City Centre.

Mr Bracken Lee is alleged to have told the cashier he was armed and demanded cash.

The male cashier was unharmed but shaken by the ordeal.

Police in Devon are appealing for information following a spate of burglaries targeting commercial properties. The burglaries occurred at commercial premises in both Mid and East Devon between Thursday 16th January and Friday 31st January and it is suspected that a stolen vehicle on false number plates was used during the raids. The vehicle, a Toyota 4x4 Hilux was stolen from a driveway of a property in Chevithorne near Tiverton on Monday 13th January.

Police are appealing for information after a spate of off-road motorcycle thefts in the Teignbridge area over the last weekend. Some five bikes worth £34,000 were taken in one raid from a remote location in Tedburn St Mary. The five bikes belong to motocross freestyle professional Jamie Sqiubb (pictured) whose bikes are his livelihood. An 18-year-old man has been arrested after a moible phone shop was burgled in Tiverton last week.

The Carphone Warehouse in Tiverton offered a £500 reward for information after a large number of phones were taken during the burglary. The Carphone Warehouse in Tiverton has offered a £500 reward for information after a large number of phones were taken during a burglary last week.

The store in Tiverton’s Fore Street, was targeted by thieves in the early hours of Thursday 23 January 2014.

Police in Exeter have issued a warning following a burglary in the city today, Friday, 24 January 2014. The incident took place at a house on Mincinglake Road, Stoke Hill at around 11.25 am. A man knocked on the front door of the property and told the occupant – a woman in her 80s – that his football was in her back garden. Police in Ilfracombe are investigating a series of burglaries where credit cards, TVs, laptops and even a car have been taken from homes in the area.

The burglaries which began in the New Year have targeted insecure homes usually during the night.

A police spokesperson said: “We are advising residents to be extra vigilant and ensure all doors and ground floor windows are secured at night, including sheds and garages.
