Detectives from British Transport Police are appealing for information after a woman was sexually assaulted whilst travelling on a train between Plymouth and London Paddington.
Just after 9am on Friday 11 November, a 21-year-old woman boarded a train at Plymouth station, bound for London. During her journey a man sat next to her and then touched her inappropriately. She challenged the man who then moved to a different seat.
He then left the train at Paddington and entered the London Underground.

A new leaflet of walks in and around the Avocet Line from Exeter to Exmouth has been launched. Called “Avocet Ambles 3”, the free leaflet has been produced by the Avocet Line Rail Users’ Group with the help from the Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership and brings together a selection of three self-guided walks, all starting from and ending at Avocet Line railway stations. Included are walks from Digby and Sowton, Newcourt and Topsham stations, all devised by members of the Rail Users’ Group committee.

Pupils from Marpool Primary School in Exmouth recently took a free train trip on the Avocet Line which links Exmouth and Exeter, to visit Exeter Cathedral as part of their Religious Education studies.
The trip was organised by the Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership under their “Train trips for schoolchildren” initiative. This aims to introduce more children to rail travel and is run in conjunction with Great Western Railway, who provided free travel for the children and teachers.

Police investigating a sexual assault, which happened on a train between Taunton and Exeter on 15 July, have arrested a man in connection with the matter.
The 36-year-old from Bideford was arrested yesterday (23 September) on suspicion of sexual assault. He was later released on police bail pending further inquiries.
The man came forward following a media appeal to trace a person detectives wanted to speak to about the incident. Officers would like to thank all those who shared the appeal.
