Topsoil donation brings Cranbrook pupils closer to nature

Taylor Wimpey Exeter has helped Cranbrook youngsters get more in touch with nature by delivering a load of topsoil to St Martin’s C of E Primary School.

Prior to the lockdown restrictions the site team at Cranbrook donated earth normally used for gardens and open spaces to help refill raised beds in St Martin’s forest school area, as well as some large planters. Outdoor lessons at St Martin’s give pupils the chance to develop their skills through practical, hands-on experiences in a natural environment.

A group of eight dementia researchers from the University of Exeter are aiming to run over 301km – the distance between their laboratory and the Alzheimer’s Research UK head office in Cambridge - before the end of the summer to raise money for pioneering dementia research.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has announced today the 53 individual finalists, from across the UK, for the tenth anniversary of the nationwide BAFTA Young Game Designers (YGD) competition.

Iggy Gill-Ces (13), Caden Cheong (13) and Gustav Hills (13) have been selected as BAFTA YGD finalists for their games entitled ‘Evolution’ and ‘Hero,’

£2.5 million award to fund new evidence review facility at Exeter

The University of Exeter has received £2.5 million to establish one of two evidence review facilities dedicated to ensuring that government health and care policy is informed by the highest quality research.

Exeter receives £1.2 million grant for pioneering new research hub

The University of Exeter has been awarded a grant of more than £1 million to create a new research hub to boost diagnosing and managing some of the world’s most debilitating long-term health conditions and antimicrobial infections.

The centre, called the Hub for Quantitative Modelling in Healthcare and led by experts from the University’s Living Systems Institute has received a grant of £1,231,618 from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).
